Method and system for solid particle removal

Disclosed is a system and method to separate solid particle components from a fluid that includes a spherical vessel with a tangential inlet to introduce the fluid and a fluid exhaust and filter arranged on the center line of the interior of the vessel. A combination of pressurized fluid and solid particles enter at the tangential inlet and move primarily in a circular path around the interior of the vessel. The circular path results in the larger mass particles settling at the vessels lower region. Less massive particles may be entrained in the exiting fluid flow toward a filter element where they are removed from the exiting fluid. The vessel has an opening to remove the trapped separated particles.

Down-hole gas separator

A method and apparatus for gas and solids separation from down-hole fluids is disclosed, including particular structural means for forcing the de-gassing of the gaseous liquid, including means for changing the velocity of the gaseous liquid (speed changes on each exit from the tubes owing to the volume difference between the tubes and the chamber), means for changing the direction of the gaseous liquid (owing to the flow changing direction from exiting one set of tubes to travel to the opening to enter the next set of tubes), and means for changing the pressure of the gaseous liquid (owing perhaps in part to evolution of gas upon entering increased volume).

Sand discharge control system

A system for controlling sand discharge from a plurality of sand separators each of which has a dump line and an actuated valve apparatus in the dump line. There is a first controller which is operatively connected to the actuated valve assemblies and is configured to open one of the actuated valve assemblies in response to a parameter such as internal pressure in the sand separator. There is a second controller which is connected to the first controller and which is also connected to an actuated discharge valve in a common discharge line to which all of the dump lines are connected. On a command from the first controller to the second controller that a selected one of the actuated valve assemblies is opening, the second controller opens the discharge valve.

Sand and Solids Bypass Separator

A sand bypass separator is provided for separating particulate matter from a fluid mixture in a production well and directing the separated particulate matter away from a pump intake. The separator includes an outer tube, an inner tube positioned within the outer tube. The outer tube has a plurality of slots to allow the fluid mixture to enter the separator between the outer tube and the inner tube. As the fluid mixture moves downward, the fluid mixture reaches a downward velocity sufficient to allow the particulate matter in the fluid mixture to continue downward as the fluid is drawn into the inner tube through the pump intake. A bypass that extends from above the pump intake to below the pump intake to collect and direct the separated particulate matter separated below the pump intake may also be included.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR GENERATION OF HYDROGEN BY IN-SITU (SUBSURFACE) SERPENTINIZATION AND CARBONIZATION OF MAFIC OR ULTRAMAFIC ROCK

Apparatuses, systems, and methods are disclosed for producing and liberating hydrogen gas and sequestering carbon dioxide through sequential serpentinization and carbonation (mineralization) reactions conducted in situ via one or more wellbores that at least partially traverse subterranean geological formations having large concentrations of mafic igneous rock, ultramafic igneous rock, or a combination thereof.

Fluid injection filtration system

A method of filtering fluid for injection into an injection well comprises detecting a fluid pressure in a conduit upstream of an actuator valve, verifying that the fluid pressure is within an operating pressure range, opening an actuator valve based on the verifying, receiving a fluid having suspended solids within a filter assembly in response to opening the actuator valve, actuating a pump in fluid communication with the filter assembly based on receiving the fluid within the filter assembly, and separating at least a portion of the suspended solids in the fluid within the filter assembly.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR HARNESSING ENERGY FROM A WELLBORE TO PERFORM MULTIPLE FUNCTIONS WHILE REDUCING EMISSIONS

A separator for a gas production facility includes a vessel defining an interior chamber. The vessel is designed to operate at a pressure greater than a pressure of a fluid being produced from a wellbore, the fluid including liquid, gas, sand and debris. The separator includes an inlet through which the fluid being produced from the wellbore is directed into the vessel, an electronically controlled valve in fluid communication with a lower portion of the vessel, and an outlet through which the gas is directed out of the vessel at a pressure substantially equal to the pressure of the fluid being produced from the wellbore. The separator includes a controller programmed to open, close, or modulate the electronically controlled valve to regulate flow of the liquid, sand and debris out of the lower portion of the vessel in response to a level of the liquid detected within the interior chamber.

Scale sampler plunger

A scale sampler plunger having an upper end and a downhole end for a plunger lift system in a tubing string comprising: a solid cylindrical member at the upper end of the scale sampler plunger configured to remove a plurality of contaminants in the tubing string; a lower sub at the downhole end of the scale sampler plunger threaded to the solid cylindrical member, wherein the lower sub comprises a first section threaded to a second section extending axially from the first section; wherein a fluid stream carrying solids flows from the tubing string into an entry opening located in the second section; a deflector disposed in a chamber in the lower sub, wherein the deflector causes the fluid stream carrying solids to deposit the solids in the chamber in the lower sub; and an anchor disposed in the entry opening, wherein the anchor is fastened to the deflector.

Method and apparatus for removal of particulate matter from a multiphase stream

A system for removing particulate matter from a multiphase stream comprising gas, liquid and the particulate matter. The system comprises a first vessel for receiving the multiphase stream and separating a majority of gas from the multiphase stream and collecting a slurry of liquid and particulate matter; a second vessel for receiving the slurry and causing separation of the particulate matter from the liquid and for generating a pressure head of liquid against the particulate matter; a third vessel for receiving the particulate matter from the second vessel and collecting the particulate matter until a pre-determined mass or volume of particulate matter is collected; and an outlet in the third vessel for conveying the particulate matter out of the third vessel.

Sand Traps For Use In Oil And Gas Extraction Operations
20220126306 · 2022-04-28 ·

A sand trap for oil and gas extraction includes a cyclonic flow section having a longitudinal axis, an inlet for receiving a high-pressure fluid stream with particulates, an upper portion, a choke area, and a funnel portion narrowing from the upper portion to the choke area. The inlet has an axis generally perpendicular but askew to the longitudinal axis. A vortex finder extends downwardly from a cap and defines a passageway coaxial with the longitudinal axis for fluid to exit. A spherical accumulator extends downwardly from the cyclonic flow section and has a center axis coaxial with the longitudinal axis. Upper and lower ends of the spherical accumulator each have an opening centered along the longitudinal axis, and the spherical accumulator is unobstructed from the upper opening to the lower opening for the particulates to pass unimpeded and accumulate in the accumulator.
