Methods, systems, and media for controlling a toolface of a downhole tool
There is described a method of determining a reactive torque factor for use in controlling a toolface of a downhole tool. For each of one or more sliding operations, a change in a top drive position of a drive unit operable to rotate a drill string connected to the downhole tool is determined, a change in a toolface of the downhole tool is determined, and a change in a differential pressure is determined. Based on the change in the top drive position, the change in the toolface, and the change in the differential pressure, a reactive torque factor is determined.
Well construction management and decision support system
A method for wellbore construction management includes measuring at least one drilling operating parameter during drilling of a wellbore. At least one well state parameter is calculated from the measured drilling operating parameter. A difference between the calculated well state parameter and a predetermined value of the well state parameter is determined. When the difference exceeds a selected threshold a modified well plan is calculated comprising at least one drilling task to enable construction of at least part of the wellbore to conform to the modified well plan. The at least one drilling task is displayed to a user.

COMBINED SOFT AND STIFF-STRING TORQUE AND DRAG MODEL
Aspects of the disclosed technology provide techniques for determining frictional forces bearing on a downhole drill string. In some implementations, a method of the disclosed technology can include steps for segmenting a plurality of continuous nodes of the drilling string into a first segment and a second segment, computing a first set of values corresponding with one or more nodes in the first segment using a first model, computing a second set of values corresponding with one or more nodes in the second segment using a second model, and determining a torque of the drill string based on the first set of values and the second set of values. In some aspects, the method can further include steps for determining a drag force on the drill string based on the first set of values and the second set of values. Systems and machine-readable media are also provided.
