Methods and systems to detect an untethered device at a wellhead
Provided here are methods and system to detect an untethered device in a wellhead. The untethered device includes a housing, a transducer, and one or more sensors configured to measure data along the subterranean well. The transducer emits acoustic signals that are received by microphones on the surface of the wellhead. Based on these acoustic signals, the location of the untethered device is determined and appropriate valves may be opened or closed by an operator.

Service Tool String with Perforating Gun Assembly Positioning Tool
A downhole tool position adjustment assembly for locating a tool downhole comprising a mandrel coupled to a housing via an extend-retract mechanism. A controller communicatively connected to the extend-retract mechanism, wherein an application executing within the controller, is configured to control the extend-retract mechanism. A communication system, communicatively coupled to the controller, is configured to receive a command signal from an operator at a surface location. The extend-retract mechanism moves the mandrel relative to the housing in response to a control signal received from the controller in response to the command signal received by the communication system.
PRESSURE INDICATION ALIGNMENT USING AN ORIENTATION PORT AND TWO RADIAL ORIENTATION SLOTS
Provided is an inner string, an outer string, and a well system. The outer string, in one aspect, includes an outer tubular configured to extend at least partially around an inner tubular, the outer tubular including a seal surface. The outer string, according to one aspect, further includes two radial orientation slots located along an inside surface of the outer tubular, the two radial orientation slots offset from one another by a distance (d.sub.1), the two radial orientation slots configured to align with an orientation port in the inner tubular that it is configured to engage with to provide two pressure readings indicative of a relative location of the inner tubular to the outer tubular.
CEMENT PLUG AND BRIDGE PLUG ASSEMBLY AND METHOD
A plug assembly for a cementing operation in a well includes a bottom wiper plug configured to land in or near the toe of a well and receive a cement slurry therethrough, a top wiper plug releasably coupled to the bottom wiper plug and configured to land on the bottom wiper plug after the cement slurry is received through the bottom wiper plug, a bridge plug coupled to the top wiper plug and configured to move toward the bottom wiper plug with the top wiper plug after the bottom wiper plug is landed in or near the toe of the well, and a sensor sub coupled to the bridge plug and configured to detect a gate in the well.
SPECTRAL ANALYSIS AND MACHINE LEARNING TO DETECT OFFSET WELL COMMUNICATION USING HIGH FREQUENCY ACOUSTIC OR VIBRATION SENSING
This disclosure presents a system, method, and apparatus for preventing fracture communication between wells, the system comprising: a sensor coupled to a fracking wellhead, circulating fluid line, or standpipe of a well and configured to convert acoustic vibrations in fracking fluid in the well into an electrical signal; a memory configured to store the electrical signal; a machine-learning system configured to analyze current frequency components of the electrical signal in a window of time and to identify impending fracture communication between the well and an offset well, the machine-learning system having been trained on previous frequency components of electrical signals measured during previous instances of fracture communication between wells; and a user interface configured to return a notification of the impending fracture communication to an operator of the well.

Adaptive noise reduction for event monitoring during hydraulic fracturing operations
A system detects an acoustic-wave-producing downhole event associated with a pipe at an uphole location in the presence of surface noise. The system comprises: a first plurality of acoustic sensors located a first axial position along the pipe and oriented symmetrically about the pipe axis; and a second plurality of acoustic sensors located a second axial position along the pipe and oriented symmetrically about the pipe axis, the second axial position spaced apart from the first axial position. A processor is connected to receive the signals from the first and second pluralities of sensors and configured to process the sensor signals to thereby produce an output signal. The processor is configured to adjust the digital processing, based on the sensor signals, to minimize a contribution of the surface noise to the output signal.
