Predicting clean fluid composition and properties with a rapid formation tester pumpout
A method and system for estimating clean fluid composition and properties. A method may comprise disposing a downhole fluid sampling tool into a wellbore, wherein the downhole fluid sampling tool comprises optical instrumentation, obtaining a fluid sample with the downhole fluid sampling tool, wherein the fluid sample comprises a reservoir fluid contaminated with a well fluid, identifying input parameters from at least one sensor response on the optical instrumentation, and predicting a clean fluid sample of the reservoir fluid using an asymptote of a dimensional reduction analysis and equation of state. A system may comprise a downhole fluid sampling tool and a processing unit. The downhole fluid sampling tool may further comprise an optical instrumentation operable to obtain fluid samples of a reservoir fluid contaminated with a well fluid while the downhole fluid sampling tool is disposed in a wellbore.
Methods for predicting properties of clean formation fluid using real time downhole fluid analysis of contaminated samples
A method, including disposing a probe of a sensor system in a wellbore to interact with a formation fluid that includes a mud filtrate and a clean fluid that includes one of a formation water, or a formation hydrocarbon fluid including at least one hydrocarbon component. The method includes collecting multiple measurements of a formation fluid from a wellbore, the formation fluid comprising a mud filtrate and a clean fluid, is provided. The clean fluid includes at least one hydrocarbon component, and the method also include identifying a concentration of the mud filtrate and a concentration of the clean fluid in the formation fluid for one of the measurements, and determining at least one hydrocarbon composition and at least one physical property of the clean fluid based on a measurement fingerprint of the hydrocarbon components. A sensor system configured to perform a method as above is also provided.
Downhole sample extractors and downhole sample extraction systems
A downhole sample extractor includes a sample container chamber that holds a sample container containing a downhole sample. The downhole sample extractor also includes a sample extraction chamber having an internal chamber that is partially filled with a carrier solution, wherein the downhole sample is mixed with the carrier solution in the internal chamber of the extraction container. The downhole sample extractor further includes a first piston that, when actuated, inserts the sample container into the internal chamber of the sample extraction chamber.

A method and system for measuring drilling fluid filtrate. The method may comprise disposing a downhole fluid sampling tool into a wellbore at a first location, activating a pump to draw a solids-containing fluid disposed in the wellbore into the downhole fluid sampling tool, drawing the drilling fluid with the pump across the at least one filter to form a drilling fluid filtrate, drawing the drilling fluid filtrate with the pump through the channel to the at least one sensor section, and measuring the drilling fluid filtrate with the at least one sensor. A system may comprise a downhole fluid sampling tool. The downhole fluid sampling tool may comprise at least one multi-chamber section, at least one sensor section, at least one filter, a pump, and a channel.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR MEASURING COMPOSITION AND PROPERTY OF FORMATION FLUID
Provided are a method and system for measuring a composition and property of a formation fluid. The method includes: acquiring a measuring model used for measuring a composition and a property of a formation fluid; using a signal measured by a sensor on a downhole hydrocarbon formation tester in real-time as input data and inputting the input data into the measuring model; processing the input data by the measuring model; and directly outputting a processing result as data on the composition and the property of the real-time formation fluid, or parsing the data on the composition and the property of the real-time formation fluid according to the processing result.
Terminal modules for downhole formation testing tools
A method includes positioning a downhole acquisition tool in a wellbore in a geological formation. The method includes operating a pump module to gather information for a fluid outside of the downhole acquisition tool that enters the downhole acquisition tool from a first flowline, a second flowline, or both while the downhole acquisition tool is within the wellbore. Operating the pump module includes controlling a valve assembly to a first valve configuration that enables the fluid to flow into the downhole tool via the first flowline fluidly coupled to a first pump module. Operating the pump module includes controlling a valve assembly to a second valve configuration that enables the fluid to flow into the downhole tool via the second flowline fluidly coupled to a second pump module, and selectively using a turnaround module or a crossover portion disposed between the first flowline and the second flowline to permit discharging the fluid from one flowline to the other flowline by actuating a valve associated with the turnaround module when the first pump module or the second pump module is not in use.
Device and method for parallel pressure-volume-temperature analysis using gas chromatography and mass spectrometry
A device and method is described to parallelize a pressure-volume-temperature (“PVT”) analysis using gas chromatography and mass spectrometry techniques such that a portion of the pressure, temperature and volume analysis is performed separately from others. The resulting PVT data is then recombined statistically for a complete PVT analysis. The device may also obtain compositional data of the fluid to perform an equation of state analysis or reservoir simulations.
Contamination prediction of downhole pumpout and sampling
A method may comprise positioning a downhole fluid sampling tool into a wellbore; performing a pressure test operation within the wellbore; performing a pumpout operation within the wellbore; identifying one or more formation parameters at least in part from the at least one pressure test operation or the at least one pumpout operation; building a correlation model that relates a pumpout trend to the one or more formation parameters; determining a time when the downhole fluid sampling tool takes a clean fluid sample utilizing at least the correlation model; and acquiring the clean fluid sample with the downhole fluid sampling tool from the wellbore. Additionally, a system may comprise a downhole fluid sampling tool configured to: perform a pressure test operation within a wellbore; and perform a pumpout operation within the wellbore.
