Attenuated total internal reflection optical sensor for obtaining downhole fluid properties
A downhole fluid analysis system includes an optical sensor comprising, which includes a light source configured to emit light comprising a plurality of wavelengths, a light detector, and an optical tip through which at least a portion of the light travels and returns to the detector, wherein the incident angle of the light causes total internal reflection within the optical tip. The system further includes a piezoelectric helm resonator that generates a resonance response in response to an applied current, and an electromagnetic spectroscopy sensor positioned symmetrically with respect to the piezoelectric helm resonator in at least one direction. The light may be reflected in the optical tip at one or more reflection points, and each reflection point may generate an evanescent wave in a medium surrounding the optical tip. The light may be internally reflected in the optical tip at a plurality of reflection points.

CHARACTERIZATION OF POLAR SPECIES IN RESERVOIR FLUIDS
A workflow and fluid analysis system to determine polar concentration and type of a reservoir fluid sample that is collected and analyzed in a downhole environment. Once collected this data can be fed into an advisory tool which can predict the probability of different types of issues that might be encountered in production of reservoir fluids from the reservoir. The workflow and fluid analysis system can also be employed in a surface-located laboratory tool for analysis of reservoir fluids.
EXTENDABLE DOWNHOLE TOOL AND RELATED SYSTEMS, APPARATUS, AND METHODS
An extendable downhole tool including a first extendable probe, a second extendable probe and a pressure system configured to apply pressure to the first extendable probe and the second extendable probe. The pressure system also include an extension valve configured to pass fluid pressure to an inner surface of a first piston and a second piston and a retracting valve configured to pass the fluid pressure to an outer surface of the first piston and the second piston. An area ratio of the first piston may be greater than an area ratio of the second piston. The extendable downhole tool may also include a screen and a screen scraper associated with one or more of the first extendable probe and the second extendable probe.
Drill stem testing
A test tool attached to test string comprising a fluid conduit is deployed to a test position within a wellbore. The deployment includes hydraulically isolating a portion of the wellbore proximate the test tool to form an isolation zone containing the test position.
