A plasticized nylon and a medical device including plasticized nylon. The medical device may be a dilatation balloon. Also disclosed are methods of plasticizing nylon.

Urinary Catheter
20240108850 · 2024-04-04 ·

A urinary catheter and container. The urinary catheter can include a catheter shaft attached to a handle and a coating disposed on an outer surface of the catheter shaft. The coating can include a hydrogel, water and/or glycerin, and a polyethylene gylcol (PEG). The PEG can have a molecular weight equal to or less than 600, for example one or more of polyethylene glycol (PEG) 300 and PEG 400. The coating can be applied in a wet state and remain wet for an extended period of time in the container, thereby obviating the need for a lubricant, such as a water sachet or gel package, to accompany the catheter in the container. The container can include a gas impermeable foil material. The container can include an adhesive tab covering a perforated section, the adhesive tab including a pull loop.

Low-modulus elastomeric compositions and articles made therewith

The present invention provides an elastomeric composition for making elastomeric articles having at least one layer, such as but not limited to condoms, which have a deformation stress or modulus below about 1.5 MPa at 500% extension, comprising at least one polymeric material, at least one plasticizer and optionally at least one coating. The elastomeric articles also have unique tactile and tensile properties, such as conformability and low radius of curvature.

LOCAL DELIVERY OF WATER-SOLUBLE OR WATER-INSOLUBLE THERAPEUTIC AGENTS TO THE SURFACE OF BODY LUMENS
20190275210 · 2019-09-12 ·

A method and device for local delivery of water-soluble or water-insoluble therapeutic agents to the surface of a normal or diseased body lumen is disclosed. An expandable structure of a medical disposable device, such as a balloon of a balloon catheter, is coated with an amphiphilic polymer coating comprising a therapeutic agent and an amphiphilic polymer or co-polymer. The medical disposable device is inserted into a body lumen, and expanded to contact the amphiphilic polymer coating against the body lumen. The total solubility of the polymer or co-polymer in vivo prevents any embolic hazard associated with the amphiphilic polymer coating.
