Medical balloon having a plurality of structural layers
A plurality of structural layers having different properties are nested together to form the medical balloon. Certain embodiments include at least one layer comprising a fiber-reinforced polymer. The layers of the balloons can slide relative to one another in use. A structural layer may comprise metal reinforcing fibers suspended in a polymer matrix.
PROCESS FOR COATING A BIOMEDICAL IMPLANT WITH A BIOCOMPATIBLE POLYMER AND A BIOMEDICAL IMPLANT THEREFROM
The present invention disclosed a process to coat the surface of flexible polymeric implant with biocompatible polymer such that the coating does not crack when the implant is subjected to mechanical forces such as tension, torsion or bending while retaining the inherent properties of the coated polymer.
MEDICAL BALLOONS, BALLOON CATHETERS, AND METHODS THEREOF
Provided herein in some embodiments is an apparatus including a composite balloon with a tubular fiber layer and a polymeric balloon layer over the fiber layer. Also provided herein in some embodiments is a method including inserting a collapsed fiber tube into an expanded polymeric balloon, expanding the collapsed fiber tube to provide an expanded fiber tube, and securing an outer surface of the expanded fiber tube to an inner surface of the expanded polymeric balloon. The method can further include inserting a distal portion of an elongate catheter body through a center of the composite balloon and securing the composite balloon to the distal portion. Thereby, the method can include forming the catheter body with the composite balloon configured to apply a pressure to surrounding walls of an anatomical vessel in an inflated state of the composite balloon to modify one or more intravascular lesions in the anatomical vessel.
BALLOON COMPOSITIONS FOR IMPLANT DEPLOYMENT
Balloon compositions that may be used for deployment of implants within a patient's body. The balloons in examples may be utilized for dilating implants and may be coupled to a delivery catheter for an implant. In examples, the balloons may be utilized to dilate other surfaces within the patient's body.
ENDOSCOPE, METHOD FOR CLEANING AN ENDOSCOPE, AND CLEANING DEVICE FOR CLEANING AN ENDOSCOPE
The invention refers to an endoscope including at least one channel which may be contaminated in use, wherein the channel wall of the at least one channel is formed of a material having properties capable of photocatalysis. The invention further refers to a method for cleaning such an endoscope including the steps of: connecting the endoscope to a reprocessing device, performing a photocatalytic treatment at least in the at least one channel for the purpose of the decomposition of organic residues on the surface of the channel, and rinsing the endoscope.
The invention further refers to a cleaning device for cleaning such an endoscope.
Coating formulations for scoring or cutting balloon catheters
The present invention is related to scoring or cutting balloon catheters carrying at least on a portion of their surface at least one drug or drug preparation and at least one lipophilic antioxidant at a ratio of 3-100% by weight of the at least one lipophilic antioxidant in relation to 100% by weight of the drug, wherein a combination of the at least one drug being a limus drug and the at least one lipophilic antioxidant being butylated hydroxytoluene is excluded.
Protein stabilizing factors
Compositions and methods are described for preventing or reducing protein loss due to protein aggregation, denaturation, and adsorption to surfaces. Also described are compositions and methods for preventing or reducing the fouling or clogging of medical devices that come into contact with blood, such as catheters. Also described are methods to treat diseases caused by activation of the microvasculature.
