TRACK RAIL FASTENING MECHANISM AND METHOD
20180023256 · 2018-01-25 · ·

A mechanism for coupling a track rail to a substrate includes a rail plate and a base plate, where the rail plate surrounds the base plate. An overmolded coating is formed of a non-metallic material and encases the rail plate and the base plate. Related methodology is disclosed.

Railway

A railway comprising rails that are at least in part at regular places along their longitudinal direction supported by and mounted on baseplates, wherein each baseplate is fixed to a sleeper resting on ballast, and wherein each rail is clamped to the baseplate with a clamping plate that is fitted to the baseplate with a clamping bolt, and which clamping plate has opposite extremities of which a first extremity rests on a cam provided on the baseplate and a second extremity rests on and presses the rail to the baseplate, wherein the first extremity and the cam have first contact surfaces and the second extremity and the rails have second contact surfaces, wherein the first contact surfaces and the second contact surfaces each have imaginary perpendicular lines that cross each other at an imaginary center line of the clamping bolt.

Track-mounting assembly

An assembly for mounting a longitudinally extending track on a substrate has a track plate having a top face adapted to carry the track and formed unitarily below the top face with a plurality of longitudinally extending tongues, a base plate at least partially below the track plate, adapted to be anchored to the substrate, horizontally surrounding the tongues of the track plate, and formed with a plurality of longitudinally extending tongues transversely spaced from, longitudinally interleaved with, and horizontally at least partially level with the tongues of the track plate. The track plate and base plate are wholly out of direct engagement with and spaced vertically and/or horizontally from each other. An elastic jacket or liner is engaged between the plates and between the tongues of the track plate and the tongues of the base plate.

A tie plate is formed with a profile defining two parallel protrusions with bores for receiving the respective ends of two clips. The two clips engage the flange of a rail to secure the rail to the plate, and therefore, to tie disposed below the plate. Since the protrusions are made integrally with the the plate, the resulting tie plate is able to support the rail securely even in the presence of large forces and/or twisting moments on the rail resulting from a train passing over the plate.

Assembly (10) for fastening a railway rail (1), comprising a lower platen (11) provided with through holes (111) for anchoring the lower platen to ground (40) by means of anchoring means (15), an upper platen (12) superposable on the lower platen for supporting the rail (1), and a pair of rail fastening clips (142) for fastening the rail to the upper platen (12). The lower and upper platens comprise a pair of corresponding first holes (112, 121) distinct from the through holes (111), for removably securing the upper platen (12) to the lower platen (11) by first fastening means (16) independent of the ground anchoring means (15). The upper platen (12) and the rail fastening clips (142) comprise a pair of corresponding second holes (122, 144) distinct from the first holes and from the through holes, for securing the rail fastening clips (142) to the upper platen (12) by means of second independent fastening means (17). The first holes (121) of the upper platen (12) have oblong shape with a longer axis oriented transverse to the rail (1) so as to allow for lateral adjustment of the upper platen (12) relative to the lower platen (11).
