Method and device for producing strip-shaped objects, in particular sticks of chewing gum
A method and device for producing individual strip-shaped objects. The method and device supply substantially rectangular sheets from which strip-shaped objects are to be formed. In forming the individual strips, the method and device separate an individual strip from the sheet along a front most groove, which forms a predetermined spacing between the individual consecutive separated strips for a subsequent onward conveying of the formed strips. Next, the method and device detect an actual position of each individually separated strip during the separation of the strips from the sheet, and corrects the position of the individual separated strips if the detected actual position of the strip does not correspond to a position which matches the predetermined spacing between the individual consecutive strips.
PROCESS FOR PRODUCING A CHEWING-GUM PELLET
Described herein is a process for producing a chewing-gum pellet, which includes a step of granulation of the gum that is carried out in a flow of cryogenic gas.
APPARATUS FOR MAKING A CONFECTIONERY PRODUCT
A description is given of an apparatus (10) for making a confectionery product (1) comprising a chewing gum having the shape of an irregular pentagon with rounded corners and sides of elliptical or semi-elliptical shape, the apparatus comprising a forming roller (11) and a contrasting element (12), wherein said forming roller (11) has a pattern obtained from the superimposition of two reciprocally orthogonal series of irregular hexagons (20), perimetrically delimited by knives, all identical one to the other, the intersection whereof determines in each hexagon four irregular pentagons (50, 50) identical one to the other in opposing pairs.

PHARMACEUTICAL TABLET FOR USE IN ADMINISTERING ONE OR MORE PHARMACEUTICALLY ACTIVE INGREDIENTS
A pharmaceutical tablet for use in administering one or more pharmaceutically active ingredients, comprising a polymer system, the one or more pharmaceutically active ingredients, a flavor, and a sweetener, wherein at least 20% by weight of the pharmaceutical tablet comprises substantially non-elastomeric polymer and less than 5% by weight of the pharmaceutical tablet comprises one or a combination of elastomeric polymers, and wherein the pharmaceutical tablet comprises at least 70% by weight of said polymer system comprising polyvinyl acetate (PVA) and less than 10% by weight of said polymer system comprising polymer having a molecular weight (Mw) greater than 50,000 g/mol.
Method for manufacturing medicated chewing gum without cooling
An improved method for manufacture of chewing gums containing active ingredient(s) that preserves the efficacy of the active ingredient(s) by avoiding exposure to high heat and extreme cold during milling that can otherwise degrade the active's efficacy. A chewing gum base is used, along with one or more therapeutically-active ingredients, one or more sweeteners (alcohol-based and/or natural), and one or more flavorings and optional flavor modifiers. The method generally comprises heating the gum base in ovens to melt the gum base. Separately, the active ingredient(s), sweeteners and flavorings are combined in a mixer. The melted gum base is added to the mixer and cools to produce a particulate mixture. As mixing continues the mass cools to room temperature and forms granular pieces. The granular pieces are ground into a powder at room temperature, mixed at room temperature with tableting excipients, and tableted. Several variations on the foregoing are also described.
