Crack resistant micro surfacing composition
A polymer-modified emulsion used for micro surfacing paving applications that results in a durable paving composition. The residue from the emulsion exhibits a resistance to cracking and an overall reduction in reflective cracking.
ASPHALT EMULSION SURFACE TREATMENT CONTAINING STEROL
Pavement aging can be reduced by applying to an asphalt-containing pavement a topcoat layer or a surface treatment containing asphalt binder emulsion with sterols.
Recycled asphalt compositions and methods thereof
A pavement composition includes a recycled hot mix asphalt (HMA) sheet mix composition including more than 50% and up to 100% recycled fines mixed with a rejuvenating agent. The recycled fines of the HMA sheet mix are separated from a reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) composition and substantially all of the recycled fines are capable of passing through a sieve having an opening size of ⅜ inch (9.5 mm). Pavement systems include an existing pavement layer and a thin-lift overlay made of the recycled HMA sheet mix on the existing pavement layer. Pavement systems also include a three-layer system including a leveling course layer, an interlayer, and a surface course layer in which the leveling course layer and/or the surface course layer include a recycled HMA sheet mix composition.
Paving Process
Described herein is a process for paving a surface with an asphalt paving material, comprising the steps of laying asphalt paving material on a surface to be paved; and combining an asphalt rejuvenator and the asphalt paving material; wherein the asphalt rejuvenator and the asphalt paving material are combined immediately before, concurrently with, or immediately after the asphalt paving material is laid on the surface to be paved. The asphalt paving material may be virgin asphalt, or it may comprise reclaimed asphalt pavement and/or recycled asphalt shingles.
Asphalt emulsion composition and method of treating a pavement surface
Compositions and methods are provided for treating a pavement such as by microsurfacing or slurry sealing. The compositions contain iron chelants that are effective in reducing discoloration of the pavement surface.
HIGH-FRICTION ROAD PATCH
A high-friction road patch may comprise an aggregate capable of providing sufficient friction between a road surface and vehicle wheel. In some embodiments, the patch may comprise a waterproof, asphalt overlay with a first layer of cured bitumen and calcined bauxite aggregate particles, a second layer of viscous bitumen and a reinforcement component, and a binder layer for bonding the overlay with the road surface. The resulting product may provide a sufficient skid resistance value in an overlay that is far less susceptible to or incapable of debonding as with prior art solutions.
Embedding photocatalytic titanium dioxide in asphalt surfaces to reduce pollutants via photocatalytic reactions
Methods for embedding photocatalytic titanium dioxide in asphalt surfaces to reduce pollutants via photocatalytic reactions are provided herein. One method includes applying an amount of an asphalt surface treatment compound to an upper surface of the asphalt surface, the asphalt surface treatment compound including a mixture of a liquid carrier compound with a titanium dioxide (TiO.sub.2) photocatalyst.
ASPHALT APPLICATION SYSTEMS AND METHODS
An attachment apparatus for a distributor vehicle configured to apply asphalt onto a surface is provided. The attachment apparatus comprises a truss and a broom head attached to the truss. The broom head comprises a plurality of bristles. The attachment apparatus further comprises a drive assembly configured to shift the truss and the broom head between a raised position and a lowered position with respect to the surface.
Pavement Repair Method and System Thereof
A method for repairing/treating a pavement with the use of a rheology modifier is disclosed. The method comprises first applying a layer of a rheology modifier composition comprising a rejuvenating component onto the top surface of the pavement that needs repair, then applying a second layer of a binder onto the rheology modifier layer. The second layer of binder effectively seals the rheology modifier layer with the rejuvenating component for intimate contact with the top pavement surface, thus penetrating the surface layer to extend the life of the pavement surface, arresting the deterioration of visco-elastic properties and restoring some of those properties.
Pavement repair method and system thereof
A method for repairing/treating a pavement with the use of a rheologically modifier is disclosed. The method comprises first applying a layer of a rheologically modifier composition comprising a rejuvenating component onto the top surface of the pavement that needs repair, then applying a second layer of an asphaltic binder onto the rheologically modifier layer. The second layer of asphaltic binder effectively seals the rheologically modifier layer with the rejuvenating component for intimate contact with the top pavement surface, thus penetrating the surface layer to extend the life of the pavement surface, arresting the deterioration of visco-elastic properties and restoring some of those properties.
