Dowel baskets and jackets with interchangeable dowels
11149385 · 2021-10-19 · ·

A field-assembly dowel basket for concrete construction configured for in-the-field assembly from a small number of component parts, including dowels, dowel jackets, frame wires that are assembled into dowel basket sections. The dowel jackets may support different types of dowels, such as rectangular plate dowels, diamond-shaped plate dowels and rod dowels. The dowel jackets are firmly attached to the frame wires by leg-clip structures with three clips features including two leg clips, which attach to risers of the frame wire, as well as a central clip feature that clips to the crossbar of the frame wire, to securely support the frame wire and dowel to the dowel jacket. Multiple dowel basket sections are joined together by inline connectors connecting adjacent frame wires to fabricate an elongated dowel basket of desired length.

Disclosed herein is an article of manufacture that increases the efficiency of forming a building material having a keyed joint with a waterstop imbedded within the building material. The article allows the easy formation of a keyed joint between formed solid slabs (typically concrete) with a waterstop properly imbedded between the slabs.

Tool for forming a cavity in a modular pavement slab and method of fabricating pavement slabs

A form for forming a modular pavement slab with long and short cavities alternatingly formed around its periphery includes a header and a plurality of short and long forming tools. The header includes an inner vertical surface that defines a portion of the periphery of the modular pavement slab. The short forming tool includes an elongate body defining a longitudinal axis and having a proximal end positioned against the inner vertical surface of the header. The elongate body has a longitudinal bore therethrough and a riser bore defining an axis that is noncollinear to the longitudinal axis. A riser is releasably coupled to the riser bore. The long forming tool is substantially similar to the short forming tool. The elongate body, however, is longer than the short forming tool and includes two riser bores. A riser is releasably coupled to each respective riser bore.

Duct Coupler for Use with Ducts in a Wet Joint of Segmental Concrete Construction
20210062941 · 2021-03-04 ·

A duct coupling system has a first concrete segment, a first duct positioned in the first concrete segment so as to have an end extending outwardly therefrom, a second concrete segment, a second duct positioned in the second concrete segment so as to have an end extending outwardly therefrom in a direction toward the end of the first duct, and a tubular member slidably positioned over the ends of the first and second ducts so as to join the first and second ducts together in a liquid-tight relationship. The first concrete segment is positioned in spaced relation to the second concrete segment. A wet joint is formed in the space between the first concrete segment and the second concrete segment. The tubular member is embedded in the wet joint.

METHODS OF MAKING AND INSTALLING A CONCRETE EXPANSION JOINT INSERT INCLUDING A SEALANT ON ONE EDGE
20210040726 · 2021-02-11 ·

An illustrative example method of making a concrete expansion joint insert includes establishing an insert body having two ends, two longitudinal edges between the ends, and two side surfaces between the longitudinal edges and the ends. A sealant is secured to one of the longitudinal edges so that the insert and the sealant can be simultaneously inserted into an expansion joints.
