Method and apparatus for deployment of a communication line onto a surface such as a roadway or pathway
A method for adhering a tubular body onto a surface that includes smoothing a portion of the surface to create a smoothed segment of the surface and applying a tubular body directly onto the smoothed segment of the surface after the smoothing of the portion of the surface. The surface at the smoothed segment is smoother than the remainder of the surface. The method further includes applying an uncured protectant onto the tubular body while the tubular body is on the smoothed segment of the surface and curing the uncured protectant into a cured protectant while the uncured protectant is on the tubular body on the smoothed segment of the surface. The cured protectant protectively encases and adheres the tubular body to the surface.
CAM OPERATED GRINDING MACHINE
An apparatus for cutting grooves in a ground surface includes a wheeled vehicle with a tool carrier connected to the wheeled vehicle. The tool carrier is rotatable about an axis parallel to the direction of travel of the vehicle and perpendicular to the direction of travel of the vehicle. A grinding tool for cutting grooves in a ground surface is rotatably mounted to the tool carrier. The grinding tool may be movable laterally relative to the vehicle. A rotatable cam is configured so that rotation of the cam causes pivotal movement of the tool carrier relative to the forward frame. Rotation of the cam moves the grinding tool into and out of engagement with the ground surface.

EQUIPMENT FOR MACHINING SURFACES, IN PARTICULAR SOLID SURFACES, IN PARTICULAR FOR MACHINING RUMBLE STRIPS
Equipment for machining solid surfaces such as for example, surfaces made of asphalt or concrete or similar solid materials, in particular for making sound strips, said equipment comprising rotating machining or digging means carried by a main frame, and rotating means which engage said main supporting frame, wherein the rotation of said rotating means in a predefined direction of rotation results in said main supporting frame being rotated alternately in two opposite directions of rotation.
Method of mounting a weigh-in-motion sensor in a roadway
A method for mounting a Weigh-In-Motion (WIM) sensor in a roadway that includes a surface layer and a base layer directly adjacent to the surface layer includes making a groove that extends down to the base layer of the roadway. The WIM sensor is inserted into the groove, and then grout is poured into the groove onto the WIM sensor. A WIM sensor for being embedded in a groove beneath the exposed upper surface of a roadway includes a force introduction flange with an upper surface and having a lateral surface connected by an edge to the upper surface so that the lateral surface is disposed at an angle with respect to the upper surface.
DEPLOYING OPTICAL FIBER ON A ROAD SURFACE
An optical fiber tape includes a matrix and at least one optical fiber connected to the matrix in an undulating manner. The undulations of the optical fiber are generally sinusoidal, semicircular, or elliptic, and are of amplitude and wavelength such that the minimum bend radius of each undulation is not less than a minimum bend radius specified by a manufacturer of the optical fiber. A road having an upper surface has a pathway indented into the upper surface to less than full depth of the road and has the optical fiber tape laid in the pathway so that the optical fiber tape does not protrude above the upper surface of the road.
REDUCED VOLUME SONIC NOISE ALERT PATTERN GRINDER & METHOD
A pavement grinding apparatus moves along a direction of travel and includes a cutting assembly. The cutting assembly has a grinding carriage; the grinding carriage including a rotating arbor having cutting elements. A control wheel is in contact with the pavement and connected to the grinding carriage to impart a cyclical up and down movement to the grinding carriage. The control wheel includes equally spaced apart lobes on the periphery of the control wheel that move the arbor in a sinusoidal up and down pattern.
Electric line striper with inverter
A line striper includes a frame supported by a plurality of wheels, a spray gun supported by the frame and positioned for ground spraying, a pump for supplying line striping fluid to the spray gun, the pump supported by the frame, an electric motor for driving the pump, the motor supported by the frame, a motor control attached to the motor and electrically connected to the motor, an inverter electrically connected to the motor control, the inverter supported by the frame, a first battery electrically connected to the inverter, the first battery supported by the frame, and a power switch electrically connected to the inverter, the motor control, and the first battery, the power switch supported by the frame.
