Preformed reflective line marking for roadways and associated methods thereof
11242660 · 2022-02-08 · ·

A preformed thermoplastic roadway line marking includes a preformed thermoplastic substrate layer capable of being attached to a roadway, and a preformed thermoplastic upper layer in contact with the substrate layer. Advantageously, such an upper layer includes a surface area having a plurality of spaced-apart slits. The slits penetrate through an entire cross-sectional thickness of the upper layer and are in fluid communication with the substrate layer. When heated to a liquid state, the substrate layer has a morphed shape and is at least partially displaced upwardly through the slits and disposed on the upper layer such that the upper layer is fixedly locked to the substrate layer and maintained at a substantially stable position relative to the substrate layer. Such a structural configuration provides an unexpected and unpredictable result of insuring the marking is locked into place relative to the roadway, thereby reducing labor costs and improving durability.

Method and System for Charging Electric Autonomous Vehicles

A system and method is provided for delivering electric energy to an electric vehicle via electric charging stations or kiosks where an energy delivery point is configured to provide energy to the electric vehicle via a connector or a wireless energy source. The method involves charging an electric vehicle by detecting, using a RFID tag reader associated with an electric vehicle, signals emanating from a marker positioned on the ground, where the marker includes one or more RFID tags, and where the RFID tag reader is able to recognize the signals despite weather conditions where the ground is covered by snow.

Cover for a concrete parking block

A cover for a concrete parking block has a first lateral end, second lateral end and a longitudinal enclosure. The first lateral end and the second lateral end can be either open or closed. The longitudinal enclosure is the same length as the concrete parking block. The protective cover can be made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE), Thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO), Acrylonitrile Butadiene styrene (ABS) or foam and resin. The protective cover can also be used to as a bicycle stand. In doing so, the bicycle wheels are inserted into V-shaped slots of the longitudinal enclosure. A water bladder is attached to the protective cover when used as a bicycle stand. A reflective coating is applied on the exterior of the protective cover in order to provide more visibility during low light conditions.

MARKING TAPE, METHOD OF APPLYING AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE MARKING TAPE

A marking tape for application on pavement which comprises a core layer and an adhesive layer outside the core layer. The core layer is formed of a combination of a conforming layer of a thermoplastic material, a marking layer of a cross-linked material, and a fibrous layer. The conforming layer and the marking layer are contiguous and/or directly interconnected with each other. The marking tape is preferably relatively light weight and relatively inexpensive.

Retroreflective Traffic Stripe 1,000X Brighter than the Current State of the Art
20210381178 · 2021-12-09 ·

This invention is a novel retroreflective traffic stripe comprising a widely spaced repeating pattern of linear light turning prisms over cube corner retroreflective prisms in a critical optimal configuration. The light turning prisms comprise at least two exposed surfaces, one approximately vertical facing the headlights of oncoming traffic, and another opposing the first and sloped by approximately 45 degrees. The approximately vertical surface efficiently accepts light from the headlights and transmits such light to the sloped surface which totally internally reflects such light downward onto an array of cube corner retroreflective prisms, which totally internally reflect such light in approximately the reverse direction. Such reflected light once more encounters the sloped face of the light turning prisms which totally internally reflects the light toward the approximately vertical surface, where such light exits and returns toward the headlights and, more importantly, toward the eyes of the driver of the vehicle.

Temporary Light Strip System
20220136185 · 2022-05-05 ·

A modular system of light strips is configured for use on a roadway surface. The light strips are configured to withstand vehicular traffic, such as passenger cars, trucks, and even heavy equipment such as found in a construction zone. The light strips have a rigid, durable housing that protects a series of LEDs within the housing. The LEDs are preferably positioned fully within the housing, with lenses directing light from the LEDs through the sidewall of the housing and toward vehicular traffic on the roadway. The channel is filled with a protective material, such as a polymer resin, for example a polyurethane resin, that serves to protect the LEDs and power supply running within the channel. The modular system can be provided with a power source, such as solar panels, or alternatively configured for connection to a power grid. The modular system can include one or more sensors to activate the system or alternatively to control the brightness of the lights in the system and be configured with light strips that connect together or can be substituted for one another allowing them to be interchangeable and easily carried, moved, installed and disassembled.

Retroreflective traffic stripe for both wet and dry weather conditions

This invention is a novel retroreflective traffic stripe comprising an exposed top surface containing a widely spaced repeating pattern of linear light-turning prisms and a second repeating pattern of linear prisms between the light-turning prisms, over a bottom surface containing cube corner retroreflective prisms. The two types of top surface prisms are operable under dry and wet weather conditions, respectively. Both types of top surface prisms are configured to use refraction and reflection to redirect light from distant headlights into a downward direction onto the bottom surface of the traffic stripe under dry and wet weather conditions, respectively. Cube corner retroreflective prisms on the bottom surface accept the light and return it in the opposite direction.

A system and method is provided for delivering electric energy to an electric autonomous vehicle. Autonomous vehicles are guided to electric charging stations or kiosks where an energy delivery point is configured to couple to the electric autonomous vehicle via a connector or a wireless energy source. The energy delivery point delivers energy to the electric autonomous vehicle via the connector. The AV is guided via the use of specialized lane marking components that permit unprecedented sensor feedback despite adverse weather conditions, which presently pose problems experienced by self-driving systems that rely upon vision based camera systems.
