Movable tsunami buffer dam
10174474 · 2019-01-08 ·

A movable tsunami buffer dam has a unit configured such that a plurality of separate units, each of which having a shape in which a frame made of a light material is sandwiched by a pair of plates made of a light material, is stacked with said plates disposed in a pile; and a locking member for locking said unit to a ground surface such that said unit can rise up from said ground surface and collapse onto said ground surface. The separate units has a structure in which water from a tsunami can advance into a space formed between said plates by said frame. A required thickness is ensured due to said unit being configured such that said separate units are stacked, and the manufacturing cost is reduced to a greater extent than in the case of a dam configured from a single separate unit of said required thickness, because the big size lumber for obtaining the units is very expensive. The unit is installed in a state of being collapsed on said ground surface at normal times, and when a tsunami arrives, said unit rising up due to the force of the tsunami and the buoyancy of the seawater, resisting the passage of the tsunami and reducing the power of the tsunami.

A barrier comprises a substantially horizontal portion, a substantially rigid ramp portion, a stabilization enhancer, a substantially vertical portion, and a connector portion. The substantially horizontal portion comprising a first side and a second side. The substantially rigid ramp portion is positioned on the first side of the horizontal portion to guide a rolling vehicle onto the horizontal portion. The stabilization enhancer is configured to distribute at least a portion of a groundward force of the rolling vehicle in an effective amount to prevent substantial horizontal movement of the barrier. The substantially vertical portion is positioned on the second side of the horizontal portion to impede movement of the rolling vehicle when traveling towards the second side of the horizontal portion from the first side of the horizontal portion. The connector portion is where the horizontal portion connects to the vertical portion.

WATER BARRIER ELEMENT

The invention relates to a water barrier shield foot element for supporting a protective module of a water barrier shield configured to be positioned between a body of water and an area of land to be protected. The water barrier foot element is configured to be arranged against a ground surface and extends in a longitudinal direction, wherein the foot element comprises a base element, a front end, a rear end and a first and a second longitudinal side portion. The front end is configured to be arranged in a direction towards the protective module, characterized in that the base element at one of either the rear end or the front end of the foot element is wider than the other so that the base element has a trapezoidal shape. The invention further relates to a water barrier shield support arrangement, a water barrier shield system and a method for manufacturing a water barrier shield foot element.

DRIVE-OVER BERMS FOR PROTECTIVE CONTAINMENT LINERS
20180274199 · 2018-09-27 ·

Drive-over berm systems that protect raised sections of protective containment liners from truck and heavy equipment damage are disclosed. A ramped outer berm abuts an elevated portion of the liner, which may be raised to a desired height by an insert positioned under the liner. A ramped inner berm may abut the elevated portion of the liner, and a connector plate may be used to secure the outer and inner ramped berms together. The height of the raised portion of the liner is selected to provide the desired sump capacity of the containment area. The inner berm and/or outer berm may be provided in sections that can be connected end-to-end, thereby reducing the weights and lengths of the components of the drive-over berm systems.
