Rapid-deployment oil spill containment boom and method of deployment
A rapid-deployment system for containing oil spills and similar water contaminations comprises a pre-manufactured sleeve having air-inflatable or gas-inflatable compartments and water inflatable compartments. In some embodiments uninflated sleeve is stored as a reel of sleeve material, and the deployment system, optionally mounted in a small boat, comprises a machine for inflating the air and water compartments at the site of a spill. In some embodiments, air and/or water compartments may be self-inflating.
Oil spill spread prevention by immediate containment
A boom for containing floating material spilled in water including an elongated sheet including units and spaces between the units, each one of the units including a plurality of plates attached to the sheet, designed to fold flat when packed, and to self-expand into a polygonal cross-sectional shape when unpacked. Related apparatus and methods are also described.
Hydrophilic material oil fence having double-porous mesh
Disclosed is a hydrophilic material oil fence having a double-porous mesh. The hydrophilic material oil fence having the double-porous mesh includes a floating body floating on a water surface, and a skirt coupled to an upper portion and a lower portion of the floating body and made of a hydrophilic material through which a hydrophilic fluid selectively passes. A mesh hole size of a partial region of the skirt and a mesh hole size of the other region of the skirt are different.
Oil spill clean-up and recovery systems for marine vessels
An oil spill clean-up and recovery system for marine vessels, which includes a pivoting and height adjustable boom extending from the vessels, which has upper and lower frameworks that are generally parallel. This includes an oil containment panel which is vertically oriented, movable, and generally laterally secured between the frameworks. A plurality of floats are secured to the oil containment panel and maintain it about the surface of a body of water for containing oil or other undesirable liquids or debris. A plurality of floating oil evacuation tubes are height adjustable and attached to separate floats, each tube having an inlet for receiving oil around the water line. The floating oil evacuation tubes are laterally positioned in proximity of one-another, and in front of the oil containment panel. The oil containment panel collects, contains, and deflects oil to the floating evacuation tubes, which then receive and delivery oil to the tanker.
Floatable apparatus for the collection, separation, containment and removal of solids from a water body
A floatable, portable and readily deployable apparatus used in a surface water body for the collection, mixing, separation, containment and removal of total solids from fluid in surface water by settling, sorption, floatation or filtration of total solids from fluid entering or induced to flow into the apparatus. Separation of total solids from fluid can include the use and recycling of commercially available or proprietary biologic, chemical and/or physical substances and processes to increase the rate and percentage of total solids removed from fluid in the apparatus.
SPILL CONTAINMENT BOOM
Some embodiments of the invention relate to a spill containment boom unit for deployment in ambient water, using water absorbing material, such as SAP, to encourage expansion of a chamber thereof. Some embodiments provide boom units which comprise one or more surfaces which form at least one hollow chamber, wherein at least one wall of the hollow chamber comprises at least one fillable compartment.
Bottom plate for marine boom
A bottom plate for a marine boom includes a main plate extending in a first plane. The main plate has first and second ends with first and second sides extending there between. The first plane is defined by a longitudinal axis extending between the first and second ends and a lateral axis normal to the longitudinal axis and extending between the first and second sides. Top and bottom surfaces are bounded by the first and second ends and the first and second sides and extend parallel to the first plane. At least one lug is attached to the main plate and extends in a second plane generally perpendicular to the first plane. The lug includes a flange defining an aperture aligned generally parallel with the lateral axis, where radial thickness of the flange increases toward the main plate and decreases away from the main plate.
