Method and apparatus for stabilising a dike

A method of stabilizing a dike using a ground anchor assembly, includes: connecting a ground anchor to a first end of a tensile member; introducing the ground anchor through the earth body and into a stable layer beneath the dike; providing a pressure distributing member on or around the tensile member at a position within the dike where stabilization against lateral earth movement is required; and connecting a second end of the tensile member to a counter member at an outer surface of the dike.

ANCHORING ASSEMBLY

An anchor system for anchoring an object to the ground is provided. The anchor system includes a base assembly for installing in the ground, the base assembly including a lower section securable in the ground, and an upper section having a substantially planar top surface. The upper section is adjustably secured to the lower section for adjusting an overall height of the base assembly. A retractable anchoring member is secured to the upper section and is adjustable between an operating position in which it extends above the top surface of the upper section, and a retracted configuration in which it is concealed below the top surface of the upper section. In an exemplary configuration, the anchoring member is pivotally secured to the upper section and can be pivoted between the operating position and the retracted configuration.

Techniques for protection of structures from wind and earthquake type stresses

The tie rod for structural projects for the protection of structures for earthquake and wind is comprised of a cast iron base (7) which has a bolt (4) passing through a hole, which is surrounded by threaded ring (5) with handles (6). A base plate (2) that sits on the bolt and turns with a ball bearing. A steel cable (9) passes through all; the one end of the cable is fixed to the base (2) with bolts (3). The other end leads to a member with blades around it (10), (12), (13), (14) which open and close around the member (17) with the help of bars (11) connected around the axis of the member with pins. To the other end, they are connected with pins to the blades. The rod presses the structure to the ground by a bolt connected to a cable which pulls a member (17) with blades which open against the sides of a hole drilled on the ground and pull the building towards the ground decreasing torque created by the forces of an earthquake or the wind. It is used on buildings with a frame, continuous building, wood frame houses with storm problems, cable bridges, loose ground slopes, etc.

A ground anchoring support apparatus for securing and supporting an object to the ground which may comprise a tensioning element which may include a lead with a tensioning fastener coupled to a first end of the lead and a ground anchor coupled to a second end of the lead. The tensioning fastener may also be coupled to the object. The apparatus may also comprise a ground support element which may include a base and a cavity, and in which a portion of the object may be received within the cavity. The ground anchor may be inserted into the ground and the first end of the lead may be tensioned against the second end of the lead by tensioning the tensioning fastener. In this manner, the ground anchor and tensioning fastener may be drawn or tensioned together to secure the object to the ground support element and also to the ground.
