SUBMERSIBLE FOUNDATION AND SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MANUFACTURING AND USING THE SAME
20230340745 · 2023-10-26 ·

A precast concrete gravity-base foundation is provided that is both floatable and submersible in water, and is suitable for mounting the shaft of an offshore wind turbine. The foundation comprises a bottom slab, four cylinders positioned at each corner, a centrally located cylinder, and a top slab covering each of the corner cylinders and having a central opening that receives the top portion of the centrally located cylinder. The foundation's configuration and positioning of the corner cylinders provide maximum stability, and once the corner cylinders are filled with sand, stone, or the like, the corner cylinders further bolster the overall mass and stability of the foundation. The foundation is produced on land, rolled onto a submersible jack-up barge, and transported to either a predetermined storage location or an installation site. The foundation's buoyancy and versatile storage options allow contractors to work year-round with fewer ships, cranes, equipment, and workers at the job site, making it a valuable addition to the offshore wind industry.

GASKET FOR WIND TURBINE

The present invention relates to a gasket adapted for being placed between a transition piece and a monopile of a wind turbine. One embodiment relates to a gasket for formfitting the bottom part of a transition piece of a wind turbine, the gasket primarily manufactured in an elastomeric material and shaped as a hollow elongated body for surrounding at least a part of the monopile when mounted between the transition piece and the monopile, such that the gasket stabilizes the position of the transition piece relative to the monopile. The presently disclosed gasket can substitute the traditional grouting or bolting procedures when mounting a transition piece on a monopile.

Retrofit reinforcing structure addition and method for wind turbine concrete gravity spread foundations and the like
11434617 · 2022-09-06 · ·

A retrofit reinforcing structure addition and method for an existing gravity spread foundation for a wind turbine or the like having a central pedestal and a spread section is provided. The retrofit structure addition includes a collar formed around the pedestal of the spread foundation. The collar is formed by a shape sustaining member, such as a CMP, placed around the pedestal to define an annular ring between the CMP and the pedestal that is filled with cementitious material. Radial bolts extend horizontally through the collar and into the side of the pedestal. Soil and/or rock anchor bolts extend vertically through the collar, the spread portion of the foundation and into the underlying soil and/or rock substrate. The radial and anchor bolts are post-tensioned to ensure that the cementitious material of the collar remains in compression and the bolts are always in static tension, strengthening the original gravity spread foundation and extending the fatigue life thereof.

Pile and method of installing
