MANHOLE LOCK SYSTEM

A manhole lock system includes a frame positioned over an access opening, a cover movable between a closed position in which the cover extends over the access opening, and an open position in which the access opening is exposed; and a lock mechanism for locking the cover in the closed position. The lock mechanism includes a lock member that is movable along a path between a unlocked position and a locked position, wherein in the locked position the lock member prevents the cover from moving to the open position, wherein in the unlocked position the lock member is retracted to enable movement of the cover to the open position.

A lockable manhole cover system including a manhole cover removably attached to a mounting ring secured to a surrounding structure such as an underground vault or concrete column, for example. A locking mechanism is attached to the bottom surface of the cover and includes a fixed end and an actuated end, each including at least one but preferably two locking pins which are movable between locked and unlocked positions. The actuated end includes a keyed lock. When in the locked position, the free ends of the locking pins extend beneath a flange extending radially inwardly on the inside surface of the ring thereby preventing the cover from being lifted up and off the ring. When the actuated side is moved to the unlocked position via the key, the locking pin free ends retract and locate radially inwardly of the flange such that the cover (and locking mechanism which is mounted thereto) is free to be lifted from the ring. On the fixed side, the locking pins are biased to move to their extended positions upon manual depression of a release stem located at the upper surface of the cover.

A closure, particularly for closing construction and technological apertures, the principle of which consists in that on the bottom side of the cover of the closing hole a rocker arm is pivotally mounted, the functional part of which in the closed position of the cover rests on the opposite element, which is anchored in the closing hole. The rocker arm is pivotally attached on a pin that is anchored by means of brackets to the bottom part of the cover. The axis of the pin, on which the rocker arm is mounted, may be either parallel to the longitudinal axis of the closing hole or perpendicular to it. The rocker arm and the rocker lug are balanced relative to the pin so that the closure is maintained in a closed position.

A system for monitoring a structures containing utility components is provided. The system includes a sensing devices, each being disposed within a structure and distributed within a geographic region, each of the sensing devices measuring parameters within the structure. A display is coupled to the sensing devices and is positioned remotely therefrom. One or more processors communicate with the sensing devices and the display. Wherein the processors perform a method comprising: receiving the measured parameters; comparing the measured parameters to thresholds; displaying on the display device elements, each device element representing one of the sensing devices, each of the device elements being geometrically arranged on the geographic distribution of the sensing devices; displaying on the display a plurality of elements, each associated with one of the device elements; and changing at least one of the elements when a measured parameter crossing one of the thresholds.

Described are hatch assemblies comprising a frame having sidewalls, a pivotally connected cover, and a number of easily repairable and replaceable torsion-spring-assisted hinge assemblies. Hinge assemblies may comprise a torsion spring having a coiled body along the center axis of which a carriage bolt is inserted. Once one end of the torsion spring that extends vertically from the center axis is engaged by a support member, such as a semi-open enclosure that is mounted on a hinge plate, the spring is rotated and supports the torque generated by the weight of the cover when operated by a user. Advantageously, this provides for a controlled and almost effortless opening and closing of a heavy door or covers of hatch assemblies.
