An example manhole cover assembly includes a manhole cover and a latch assembly. The manhole cover is supportable by a seat of a manhole frame. The latch assembly includes a latch housing fixedly coupled to the manhole cover. A latch plunger is slidably coupled to the latch housing. The latch plunger includes a follower arm. A latch lever is rotatably coupled to the latch housing. The latch lever includes a stop. The latch lever is rotatable relative to the latch housing between a locked position and an unlocked position. The stop is structured to engage the manhole frame when the latch lever is rotated to unlocked position so as to force the manhole cover away from the frame.

MANHOLE COVER LOCKS, LOCKABLE MANHOLE COVERS, AND METHODS FOR LOCKING A MANHOLE COVER

A locking assembly attachable to a manhole cover includes an arm disposable in a lowered position with the arm disposed in a first orientation engageable with a manhole frame supporting the manhole cover to inhibit removal of the manhole cover from a manhole frame, and disposable in a raised position and in a second orientation operable to allow removal of the manhole cover from the manhole frame. In an embodiment, the locking assembly may include the arm attached to a movable member having a spiral, helix, or curved groove and in which the movable arm is receivable in a bushing and a pin receivable in the groove.

A selectively frictionally engaged hole cover for a bore hole cored from a paved surface that includes a cover plate configured to cover the bore hole and support vehicular traffic. An engagement mechanism is attached to the cover plate and extends down into the bore hole. The engagement mechanism is configured to be actuated by a user torque input that causes an engagement plate selectively shiftable relative to the cover plate to thereby shift an engagement member along a sloped wall and thus radially outwardly or inwardly, causing the engagement mechanism to selectively engage or disengage the wall of the bore hole. When the engagement member is in frictional contact with the hole, unintentional extraction of the engagement mechanism is prevented. The selectively frictionally engaged hole cover effectively provides a temporary cover for a bore hole in a road, parking lot, or other paved surface.

Disclosed is a hatch assembly with a gasket that seals when the hatch is closed. The sealed hatch assembly is fluid tight and prevents water, dust, or other contaminates from entering the enclosure protected by the hatch. In a preferred embodiment, the gasket is formed about a peripheral edge of the hatch door. This gasket is adapted to seat upon an L-shaped bracket formed about the periphery of the hatch frame. A center beam is also included for dividing the frame into two openings. The center beam includes a U-shaped bracket that can also form a seal with the gasket. The various components of the present disclosure, and the manner in which they interrelate, will be described in greater detail hereinafter.

The riser ring shim includes a plurality of paddle lock notches, a plurality of through holes, a plurality of counter sunk holes and a plurality of alignment marks, where dimension of the plurality of through holes is different from dimension of the plurality of counter sunk holes. Further, the riser ring assembly includes a top riser ring attached to an upper part of the frame, and a cover attached to an inner surface of the top riser ring.

The cover system includes a cover removably attached to a cover frame installed about an access hole. The cover includes locking elements to prevent tampering with the cover by unauthorized individuals. The locking elements include the coordinated function of cover brackets aligned with guide tubes that are used for inserting a tool for fastening or unfastening the cover, a tool post having windows that align with each guide tube for insertion of the tool, and an inner and outer plug to provide controlled access to the hidden locking system. The cover frame includes a frame plate having a frame opening to receive the cover plate therein, frame brackets, frame bracers, support rods, and frame supports for affixing the cover frame securely in position about an access hole.
