Controlled pressure release manhole cover assembly
09863115 · 2018-01-09 · ·

A manhole cover assembly includes a manhole cover and a latch assembly. The manhole cover is movable between a seated position in which the manhole cover is supported on a seat of a manhole frame, and an unseated position in which the manhole cover is displaced relative to the seat of the manhole frame. A shock absorber includes a housing fixedly coupled to the manhole cover. The housing defines a cylinder. A piston is slidably coupled to the cylinder. A rod is fixedly coupled to the piston. A spring is positioned within the cylinder adjacent the piston. A latch is fixedly coupled to the rod. In response to a pressure applied to the manhole cover, the latch assembly is configured to permit limited displacement of the manhole cover relative to the seat of the manhole frame, and to controllably dissipate energy relating to the pressure.

SAFETY HATCH SYSTEM

In one embodiment, an electronically controlled hatch system for safe ingress, egress, hazard detection, and methods thereof are provided to reduce or eliminate hazards to personnel, including protection of people above and below a scuttle hatch, access port, skylight or elevated deck. Said hatch system reduces the risk of falls while ascending or descending a ladder through an access port. In certain embodiments, severe weather, hazard, security, and other safety information are detected and transmitted to a central control unit for processing and regulating the opening and closing of a hatch covering the access port and/or raising and lowering a safety railing system based on said information and/or user input. Said hatch system may include an actuator and guides for automatically locking/unlocking and opening/closing a hatch, an actuator and guides for automatically raising/lowering a railing system, safety monitoring detectors/apparatuses, and a centralized controller.

A LINER
20170152642 · 2017-06-01 ·

A liner for a manhole cover is made up of stackable sections. Each stackable section is formed of a plurality (e.g. 4) pieces. Each piece comprises a first arm and a second arm which are substantially perpendicular to one another, the first arm being longer than the second arm, and both arms comprising connection means to allow the pieces to be connected together. The respective dimensions of the first arm and the second arm are chosen such that, when the piece is incorporated into a stackable section comprising three other corresponding pieces that are connected to each other in a sequence of a second arm of one piece connected to the first arm of an adjacent piece to form a quadrilateral stackable section, a further corresponding piece can fit within the stackable section along an axis substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the first arm. Further corresponding pieces can thus be arranged within a complete stackable section to maximise the number of pieces that can be transported in a given space.

Disclosed is a hatch assembly with a gasket that seals when the hatch is closed. The sealed hatch assembly is fluid tight and prevents water, dust, or other contaminates from entering the enclosure protected by the hatch. In a preferred embodiment, the gasket is formed about a peripheral edge of the hatch door. This gasket is adapted to seat upon an L-shaped bracket formed about the periphery of the hatch frame. A center beam is also included for dividing the frame into two openings. The center beam includes a U-shaped bracket that can also form a seal with the gasket. The various components of the present disclosure, and the manner in which they interrelate, will be described in greater detail hereinafter.

SECONDARY SAFETY LID FOR A RISER SYSTEM

The disclosed embodiments include a secondary lid for installation in a riser. The secondary lid may comprise a top configured to cover an opening in the riser, an expandable ring configured to attach to an inner circumference of the riser, and wherein the expandable ring may comprise at least one hinge configured to attach the top to the expandable ring text missing or illegible when filed

A closure assembly includes a frame, a cover, and a hinge assembly. The hinge assembly selectively connects the frame to the cover to allow rotation between an open position and a closed position. The hinge assembly includes at least one tine formed on an edge of the cover, a projection extending from the at least one tine, at least one wall formed on an upper surface of the frame, and a slot formed in the at least one wall that receives the projection. The slot includes a rotation section, an opening radiating from the rotation section, and a locking section radiating from the rotation section. The locking section allows the cover to rotate to an angle greater than ninety degrees when the projection is at least partially in the locking section. The locking section and the opening have a non-180 degree angular offset relative to one another.
