METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR ESTIMATING SURFACE ROUGHNESS OF GROUND FOR AN OFF-ROAD VEHICLE TO CONTROL STEERING
20210283973 · 2021-09-16 ·

A method and system for estimating surface roughness of a ground for an off-road vehicle to control steering of a vehicle, an implement, or both, comprises detecting motion data of an off-road vehicle traversing a field or work site during a sampling interval. A first sensor is adapted to detect pitch data of the off-road vehicle for the sampling interval to obtain a pitch acceleration. A second sensor is adapted to detect roll data of the off-road vehicle for the sampling interval to obtain a roll acceleration. An electronic data processor or surface roughness index module determines or estimates a surface roughness index based on the detected motion data, pitch data and roll data for the sampling interval. The surface roughness index can be displayed on the graphical display to a user or operator of the vehicle.

STEERING DEVICE, STEERING SYSTEM, AND WORK VEHICLE

A steering device for operating a work vehicle includes a support part, a base member rotatably supported by the support part, a lever rotatably supported by the support part or the base member, a biasing member and a transmission mechanism connecting part. The biasing member is interposed between the lever and the base member to bias the lever to a predetermined position with respect to the base member. The transmission mechanism connecting part configured to be connected to a transmission mechanism configured to transmit rotation based on a rotation angle of a steering shaft of the work vehicle to the base member. A restriction part may restrict rotation of the lever when an angle of the lever with respect to the base member reaches a predetermined angle.

OBJECT RESPONSIVE CONTROL SYSTEM FOR A WORK MACHINE

An object responsive control system for a work machine having a boom, an attachment pivotally coupled to the boom, an object sensor adapted for sensing the presence of an undesirable object located in a travel path of the work machine and delivering an object signal upon sensing the undesirable object. A controller adapted for receiving a boom position signal, an attachment position signal, and calculating an elevational position based on the boom position signal. The system activating an object response upon calculating an attachment elevation position above a predetermined threshold and receiving an object signal.

METHOD TO SELECT AN ACTIVE STEERING INPUT DEVICE BASED ON ORBITAL PRESSURE

A work machine having a cab coupled to a frame, a steering system coupled to the frame, a controller configured to selectively articulate the steering system, a joystick assembly positioned in the cab and in communication with the controller, a steering wheel assembly positioned in the cab and configured to selectively articulate the steering system, and a steering wheel sensor coupled to the steering wheel assembly and in communication with the controller to identify movement of the steering wheel assembly. Wherein, the controller does not articulate the steering system responsive to movement of the joystick assembly when the steering wheel sensor identifies movement of the steering wheel.

OPERATOR DETECTION SYSTEM

A work machine may include a steering system, a user interface, a detection device, and a control device. The user interface may generate an input signal corresponding to operator input. The detection device may generate a detection signal corresponding to a presence of an operator relative to the user interface. The control device may determine that the operator is unavailable based on the detection signal and the input signal, and enable a lockout mode based on determining that the operator is unavailable. The control device may determine, while the lockout mode is enabled, a readiness indicator. The readiness indicator may confirm a readiness of the operator based on determining that the detection signal satisfies a readiness criterion. The control device may disable the lockout mode based on determining that the readiness criterion is satisfied.

Side-by-side diesel utility vehicle

A utility vehicle comprises a plurality of ground engaging members and a frame supported by the plurality of ground engaging members. The frame includes a front frame portion, a mid-frame portion, and a rear frame portion. The utility vehicle further comprises an attachment supported at the front frame portion. Additionally, the utility vehicle includes an operator area supported by the frame and including an operator seat and an adjacent passenger seat spaced apart from the operator seat. The operator seat and the passenger seat are in a side-by-side arrangement. The utility vehicle also comprises an auxiliary power assembly having an attachment shaft configured to be operably coupled to the attachment. The attachment shaft extends in a generally longitudinal direction of the utility vehicle and projects outwardly from the front frame portion.

VEHICLE STEERING ASSEMBLY

A vehicle steering assembly for controlling movement of a vehicle having independently rotatable left and right ground-engaging traction elements. The steering assembly comprises a steering handle and a steering controller positioned generally below the steering handle and actuated by movement of the steering handle. The steering handle includes an upright shaft and a laterally-extending crossmember fixed to the top of the upright shaft. A flexible protective cover is attached to the shaft and is configured to prevent dirt and debris from entering the steering controller. The steering handle is shiftable in forward and rearward directions to thereby cause corresponding forward and rearward rotation of both of the left and right traction elements. The steering handle is rotatable in clockwise and counterclockwise directions to thereby cause a change in the relative speeds and directions of rotation of the left and right traction elements.

LOCKING OUT A MACHINE TO PROHIBIT MOVEMENT

A construction machine includes a system and method for performing a lockout or stand down of the machine to prohibit movement of the machine or one or more components of the machine, without shutting down the machine. Information about the status of the machine or a component thereof can be collected and relayed to an electronic control module (ECM) to determine whether to lockout the construction machine. If appropriate, the ECM can command lockout to an electrical component of the machine or component to prohibit movement of the machine or component until the lockout is released.
