A motor generator (27) is connected mechanically to an engine (21) and a hydraulic pump (23). The hydraulic pump (23) delivers pressurized oil to cylinders (11D) to (11F) in a working mechanism (11), a traveling hydraulic motor (25) and a revolving hydraulic motor (26). The revolving hydraulic motor (26) drives a revolving device (3) in cooperation with a revolving electric motor (33). The motor generator (27) and the revolving electric motor (33) are connected electrically to an electricity storage device (31). An HCU (36) sets a target electricity storage rate (SOC0) of the electricity storage device (31) and a pump output limit (POL0) of the hydraulic pump (23) corresponding to a mode selected by a mode selection device (38). The HCU (36) controls the engine (21), the motor generator (27), the revolving electric motor (33) and the electricity storage device (31) corresponding to the target electricity storage rate (SOC0) and the pump output limit (POL0).

The hybrid construction machine further comprises a converter current detector positioned either between the converter and the generator or between the converter and the ESS to detect the current flowing between the converter and the generator, an ESS current detector positioned between the converter and the ESS to detect the current flowing between the converter and the ESS, a processing unit receiving the current detected from the converter current detector and the ESS current detector and calculating the operation time of the respective component, and a display unit displaying the operation time of the respective component. Since the hybrid construction machine calculates the operation time of the respective component and displays the same to an operator.

It is an object of the present invention to provide hybrid construction machinery in which a power storage apparatus can be warmed up quickly and a life of the power storage apparatus can be lengthened. The hybrid construction machinery includes: an electric motor assisting a prime mover in power and generating electric power; the power storage apparatus transferring electric power to and from the electric motor; a warm-up circuit circulating a warming medium in the vicinity of the power storage apparatus; and a control device controlling circulation of the warming medium in the warm-up circuit. The hybrid construction machinery is provided with on-board equipment state detection units that detect states of on-board equipment to estimate an output request for the power storage apparatus from the on-board equipment. The control device controls circulation of the warming medium based on a temperature of the power storage apparatus and a determination temperature for determining whether to circulate the warming medium in the warm-up circuit. The control device further varies the determination temperature according to a result of detection by the on-board equipment state detection units.

An energy storage system associated with a machine having a work tool and one or more auxiliary loads includes a power source which generates mechanical power. An energy storage device supplies power to the one or more auxiliary loads. An electrical generator is operably coupled to the power source and converts at least a portion of the mechanical power into electrical power. The electrical generator supplies the electrical power to the energy storage device. A controller is communicably coupled to the power source, the work tool, the energy storage device, and the electrical generator. The controller determines a power demand of the work tool. The controller then compares whether the determined power demand exceeds a pre-determined threshold power. The controller disables the electrical generator from supplying the electrical power to the energy storage device if the power demand exceeds the pre-determined threshold power.

A management server receives a maximum value and a minimum value of the respective voltages in a plurality of battery cells configuring an electricity storage device of a hydraulic excavator from the hydraulic excavator, and stores the values in a storage device. Discharge characteristics of the electricity storage device are stored in the storage device in the management server. A battery state estimation calculating unit in the management server calculates an estimation maximum value and an estimation minimum value of cell voltages in the present or in the future by adding the discharge characteristics stored in the storage device to the latest maximum value and the latest minimum value of the cell voltages stored in the storage device. A management information producing unit outputs information based upon the estimation maximum value and the estimation minimum value of the cell voltages calculated in the battery state estimation calculating unit.

Systems and methods for managing a battery charge of a work machine are described herein. The battery charge is maintained using a source of power (or other source) while the work machine also uses the source of power to power the work machine and the systems associated with the work machine. In instances in which the source of power may be removed for use by the work machine, a modification request may be used to change the battery from primary mode of operation, where the battery charge is maintained at a lower level to maintain the life of the battery, to a secondary mode of operation where the battery is charged to a high charge. The higher charge can be used to accommodate work machine operations while the battery is removed from the source of power. The battery can thereafter be returned to the primary mode of operation.
