Wear assembly having a lock

Wear members for wear assemblies include a lock configured to secure the wear member to a base, where the lock has two engagement positions, namely: (a) a first position that secures the lock to the wear member, and (b) a second position that secures the wear member to the base. The locks are further configured to be unlatched and removed from the wear member in two phases, a first retraction of the latching mechanism, followed by a rotation of the lock itself with removal from the wear member.

A wear member assembly may include a nose attachable to a bucket lip. The nose may include a rear portion having a first set of substantially planar surfaces including a first, second, and third subset of surfaces. The third subset of surfaces may be angled and positioned between the first subset of surfaces and the second subset of surfaces. The nose may also include a forward portion positioned forwardly adjacent to the rear portion, the forward portion having a second set of substantially planar surfaces including a fourth, fifth, and sixth subset of surfaces. The sixth set of surfaces may be angled and positioned between the first subset of surfaces and the second subset of surfaces. The wear member assembly may also include a wear member having a cavity comprising rear and forward bearing surfaces corresponding to the third and sixth subset of surfaces.

System for securing bits against rotation

A system for use in securing bits against rotation in a motor grader may include a bit, with the bit having a shank. The shank may include a locking portion. The system may include an adapter board including a hole configured to receive the shank of the bit. The system may also include an anti-rotation plate configured to engage the locking portion of the shank of the bit such that the anti-rotation plate constrains the bit against rotation with respect to the adapter board.

WEAR PART, BUCKET, SYSTEM AND METHOD

A wear part, a bucket, bucket system and a method for attaching the wear part to the bucket are provided. The wear part includes a forward edge for intruding into a material to be handled by the bucket, and an engagement portion for engaging with an engagement edge of the bucket. The engagement portion has a concave cross section. A lever element extends from a side of the engagement portion in a direction backwards from the forward edge, and a fastening unit is arranged in a distal end of the lever element. The bucket has a plate hole arranged behind a bucket threshold in relation to an engagement edge for receiving a fastening element for fastening the wear part to the bucket.

Protection element for an earth-working implement

A protection element for an earth-working implement includes a flat plate having a wearing portion on a side of the flat plate facing a distal end of the earth-working implement. A lower portion of the flat plate forms an attachment portion provided with notches, projecting portions, or a combination thereof configured to engage with the earth-working implement. When the attachment portion is engaged with the earth-working implement, the protection element is configured to project above a plane coinciding with a top surface of at least a portion of the earth-working implement proximal to the protection element such that the portion of the earth-working implement proximal to the protection element is shielded from a flow of loose mass during use of the earth-working implement. The wearing portion is arranged at an upper portion of the flat plate. The attachment portion is arranged at a lower portion of the flat plate.

WEAR MEMBER

A wear member comprising: an upper leg having a ground engaging surface on an outer side thereof and a mounting surface on an inner side thereof, and a lower leg spaced apart from the upper leg and also having a ground engaging surface on an outer side thereof and a mounting surface on an inner side thereof, the mounting surfaces defining a mounting cavity therebetween and the legs meeting at a front portion, the upper leg defining (i) a lock aperture therein, (ii) a rear edge, and (iii) a lifting feature located adjacent to and between the lock aperture and the rear edge; the lifting feature defining (a) a front surface lower than the upper leg ground engaging surface and being inclined relative thereto, (b) a lower support surface opposite the front surface, and (c) a rear engaging surface extending between the front surface and the lower support surface and being recessed relative to the rear edge; wherein the front surface, lower support surface, and rear engaging surface provide a narrowed portion around which a lifting device may be located for relocating the wear member.

CUTTING EDGE

A cutting edge for a machine. The cutting edge includes a top side and a bottom side opposite the top side. The cutting edge includes insert apertures along the bottom side. The insert apertures shaped to receive inserts made of harder material than the majority of the cutting edge.

Wear Assembly Removal and Installation

A process and tool for installing and removing various kinds of wear parts used with earth working equipment. The process and tool allows the operator to remove and install the wear parts at a safe distance so that the operator is physically remote from the potential risks of the removal and installation process. The tool may be manually operated via an operator or the tool may be a semi-automated or fully automated.

MINERAL BITS AND MOUNTS

Mineral bits (10, 100) and associated mounts (30, 116, 200) for use during excavation and mining operations are disclosed. An exemplary bit (10) has a front region (12) and an opposite rear region (14) and comprises a head portion (16) and a mounting portion (18) secured to the head portion (16). The mounting portion (18) can be configured to be releasably retained by a mount (30). A rounded transition (22) disposed in the front region (12) of the bit between the head portion (16) and the mounting portion (18) provides a clearance (C) between the head portion (16) and the mount (16). Mineral bits (10, 100) disclosed can be inserted into and withdrawn from mounts (30, 116, 200) by linear and/or rotational movement.
