A method of manufacturing a catalytic sieve includes providing starting materials of an aggregate, a cementing agent, a sublimation agent and water. The sublimation agent (between 25% and 50% by weight of the cementing agent) is selected from molybdenum disulfide, tungsten disulfide, vanadium disulfide, copper sulfate, and combinations thereof. The aggregate contains at least 2% by weight of at least one transition metal. The method includes mixing the starting materials to achieve a mixture, placing the mixture into a form, and curing the mixture in the form to allow the mixture to become a solidified unit defined by a minimum dimension of thickness, length, width or diameter. The method further includes placing the solidified unit into a kiln, heating the kiln to 1115°−1350° C., maintaining the kiln at the temperature for between 10-60 minutes per centimeter of the minimum dimension, and removing the solidified unit from the kiln.

Devices for controlling erosion and storm water runoff

A storm water runoff and erosion control device includes a rigid frame covered by a layer of mesh material. The frame defines an interior space that is filled with filtration material. The device may be configured as a wattle having an elongated frame with a triangular cross-section. The wattle may be extended along the contour of a hill to reduce erosion, or it may be placed at the entrance to a drainage inlet to slow the velocity of, and filter sediment and contaminants from, water entering the inlet. Alternatively, the device may be a compact filter that is a cube, cylinder, sphere, or other suitable geometry. A plurality of these compact filters may be placed in the basin of a storm water drain, and piled sufficiently high to cover the outlet from the basin. Thus, all the water in the basin must pass through the compact filters before exiting.

There are provided a rainwater runoff contaminant filtration apparatus and a monitoring system therefor. According to an aspect of the present invention, a rainwater runoff contaminant filtration apparatus includes: a body in which rainwater runoff is introduced into an opening whose top end is opened and the rainwater runoff is discharged to an outlet formed on one side surface of a lower portion thereof; a filtering unit located inside the body and filtering the rainwater runoff introduced into the opening; a collecting unit connected to the filtering unit, collecting the rainwater runoff, and providing the collected rainwater runoff to an inner portion of the filtering unit; a connection sensing unit including a spring cylinder to connect the filtering unit and the collecting unit to each other and sensing a weight of the filtering unit on the basis of reciprocation of the spring cylinder; and a communication unit transmitting the weight of the filtering unit sensed by the connection sensing unit to the outside, wherein the connection sensing unit includes a contactless sensor located at an outer portion of the spring cylinder and a magnet located at an inner portion of the spring cylinder and moving in accordance with movement of the spring cylinder, and the communication unit transmits a signal generated by the contactless sensor sensing the magnet to the outside.

PROTECTOR FOR A DRAIN

A drain protector (1) is provided which has a conformable bottom frame (3) having a central opening that is closed by a filter element (4) spanning the opening. The filter element is capable of removing silt from water on a building site. The bottom frame is capable of conforming to the surface terrain around a drain opening due to the compressive weight of the drain protector in-situ. There is a porous top frame (2) that provides additional separation for debris from silted water and also provides compression weight for the bottom frame. The drain protector (1) may be removed, cleaned and reused.

Storm drain grate and filter apparatus and method

A storm water capture and filtration system may secure in a catch basin or other area subject to flows of water from streets, channels, and the like as a result of run off from storms. A filter system may include a capture portion including attachment mechanisms, a funnel, various supports, and a filter hanger designed and calculated to capture all water entering a storm water inlet and directing it toward a bag filter. A gap is provided between a funnel and filter hanger in order to provide accommodation for overflow, while an anti-backflow skirt on the filter bag resists flushing of captured pollution out of the bag in overflow condition.

Systems, devices, and methods for providing nutrient removals in an up flow filtration storm water system for treating water to very high clean levels using filtration media. A filtration media can be supported by a screen above a floor in a vault allows for incoming storm water to pass into a void space above the floor into the screen and filtration media and then out an outlet to the vault. The filtration media can include recyclable and/or natural particles. A top screen can be placed on top of the filtration media. Layers of river rocks can be placed on top of and below the filtration media. The captured debris can drop to the floor. The long lasting filtration media can be cleaned by being backwashed.
