DECK FRAME WITH INTEGRAL ATTACHMENT TABS
A deck frame includes at least one perimeter support member that has a joist support wall, a web wall extending perpendicularly from the joist support wall, and an overhang wall extending perpendicularly from the web wall. The web wall includes a plurality of spaced apart joist attachment features. Each attachment feature includes a slot defined by the web wall, a first tab extending from a first perimeter edge of the slot at a first angle with respect to the web wall, and a second tab extending from a second perimeter edge of the slot opposite the first perimeter edge in a first direction and forming a second angle with respect to the web wall. The first tab is disposed spaced apart from the second tab in a second direction orthogonal to the first direction.
CONNECTION FOR STACKING POST SYSTEM FOR MULTISTORY BUILDING CONSTRUCTION
A first post has a lower portion at a first floor of a multistory building and an upper portion at a second floor, and a second post has a lower portion at the second floor and an upper portion at a third floor or building-top structure. A post connection includes a horizontal cap plate and a vertical sleeve extending upward from the cap plate and having a bore with an inner dimension. The cap plate attaches to and covers the first post upper portion to prevent water intrusion into the first post. The second post lower portion has an outer dimension that is slightly less than the connection sleeve inner dimension so that the second post lower portion is slidingly received in the connection sleeve bore in an overlapping, telescopic arrangement. A retainer may be installed for engaging and supporting the second post on the connection.
Modular anti-ballistic, blast and forced entry resistant shelter system
The modular anti-ballistic shelter system includes two end units and, optionally, additional middle units for a wider structure. End and middle units may also stack atop each other for multi-story structures. Each unit is configured to comply with both ISO standards for size and weight, and with the U.S. Department of State Certification Standard for Forced Entry and Ballistic Resistance of Structural Systems. Each exterior wall of each end unit and each middle unit is reinforced with wall studs that penetrate the unit's structural framework of beams and frames. Even though these wall studs are welded into place, penetration of the wall studs into the beams and frames ensures acceptable blast, ballistic, and forced entry resistance even if the welds are flawed.
PRECAST MODULAR STRUCTURAL BUILDING SYSTEM AND METHOD
The present invention is a modular structural building system and method consisting of prefabricated, precast, composite reinforced concrete raised floor and steel beam panels with adjustable levelling connection assemblies between panels, supported by columns. The system has the ability to accommodate the use of the floor by construction personnel during the on-site assembly process. The perimeter of the raised floor slab can be provided with ducts for a field installed conventional reinforcement means to create a continuous structural diaphragm for the floor panel.
CONNECTION NODE FOR MODULAR BUILDING STRUCTURES
A connection node assembly for use in connecting an upper prefabricated building module to a lower module. Hollow vertical edge supports of the building modules have top and bottom connection parts. A connecting bolt can be passed through the top part of an upper vertical support in the upper building module and seated within the bottom part of that vertical support with the shank extending downward. The shank engages a threaded aperture in a connecting nut secured within the top part of a corresponding lower vertical support in the lower building module. Diaphragm plates sandwiched between the upper and lower vertical supports are used to tie horizontally placed modules together.
SPLICE CONNECTORS FOR HOLLOW STRUCTURAL SEGMENTS AND METHODS OF MAKING THE SAME
A connector for coupling first and second hollow structural section (HSS) column segments includes a plurality of splice plates including first and second splice plate pairs. Each splice plate pair includes an interior splice plate configured to couple against an interior surface of a respective HSS column wall and an exterior splice plate configured to couple against an exterior surface of the wall. A plurality of plate fastener openings is defined in each of the splice plates of the first and second pairs. A plurality of fasteners is each configured to be received in a respective aligned series of openings such that the column segments are securely coupled together. Each respective aligned series of openings includes a plate fastener opening defined in one of the exterior splice plates, an opening defined in one of the column walls, and a plate fastener opening defined in one of the interior splice plates.
Building access system and a method for providing a building with such a building access system
The invention relates to a building access system (100) adapted to be arranged externally of a building comprising a number of storeys, comprising an elevator module (2) with an elevator shaft (2A) for an elevator and a mounting arrangement (3) for mounting to a wall (4) of the building. The access system further comprises at least one balcony module (1,1) comprising one or more balconies (1A,1A,1A,1B,1B,1B), each said balcony comprising a balcony door (16) for providing access to the elevator in a side wall (13). The balcony module (1,1) or modules comprises/comprise one or more separate modules adapted for connection to the building in association with the elevator module (2), or the elevator module and one or more balcony modules comprise an integrated elevator and balcony module. The mounting arrangement (3) is adapted for interconnecting the balcony and elevator modules with the wall (4) of the building.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PRECISION MANUFACTURING OF MOMENT CONNECTION ASSEMBLIES
An apparatus for connecting collar components to an elongate member is disclosed. The apparatus includes a frame structure having a central opening that is configured to receive an elongate member and that includes at least a first gripping station and a second gripping station. Each gripping station includes a reference surface and a clamp device that is configured to force a collar component against the reference surface. The first and second gripping stations are configured to control relative spatial location of a first collar component held by the first gripping station relative to a second collar component gripped by the second gripping station, prior to connecting the first and second collar components to the elongate member.
Construction assembly and method for making and using the same
A construction assembly and methods for making and using the same. The construction assembly includes a plurality of primary structure members each having an S shape including first and second portions respectively defining first and second level recesses. The primary structure members can be in a standing position with the first and second level recesses being respectively proximal to and distal from ground. The first portions can collectively surround and define first level space. The second portions can collectively surround and define second level space greater than the first level space. Advantageously, the construction assembly can provide an efficient space-generating solution. Because of the smaller floor area of the first level space, environmental hazards such as wind, flood or tsunami can exert smaller impact on part of the construction assembly proximal to the ground. Advantageously, the primary structure member can be lightweight, strong and easy to assemble.
