Digital material assembly by passive means and modular isotropic lattice extruder system (MILES)

A set of machines and related systems build structures by the additive assembly of discrete parts. These digital material assemblies constrain the constituent parts to a discrete set of possible positions and orientations. In doing so, the structures exhibit many of the properties inherent in digital communication such as error correction, fault tolerance and allow the assembly of precise structures with comparatively imprecise tools. Assembly of discrete cellular lattices by a Modular Isotropic Lattice Extruder System (MILES) is implemented by pulling strings of lattice elements through a forming die that enforces geometry constraints that lock the elements into a rigid structure that can then be pushed against and extruded out of the die as an assembled, loadbearing structure.

A building structure assembly includes standardized interlocking components sized to suit any particular size of building required and ISO standard shipping containers, including: at least one modular base structure, at least one modular beam structure, and at least one wall support in the form of a shipping container and a method of assembly of the building structure. Each modular beam and base structures a frame, interlocking with each other and a shipping container by corner castings with twist lock assemblies, arranged in a particular orientation with each other. The modular base structure is supported by the corner castings of a shipping container and the base structure supports an end portion of at least one modular beam structure. A modular beam structure spans shipping containers. The modular beam structures can function as roof trusses and are sized to be transported inside shipping containers.

A modular housing structure comprising a plurality of modular elements each having a relative bearing structure defining an inner housing volume, and relative removable union components/devices for the reciprocal connection, associated with the bearing structure, wherein each of the modular elements comprises relative removable union components/devices for the reciprocal connection, and wherein the union components/devices are associated with the bearing structure and are of the magnetic type.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR POSITIONING A DRILLING OR OTHER LARGE STRUCTURE USING ATTACHED POSITIONING SHOES WITH INDIVIDUALLY ADDRESSABLE WIRELESS VERTICAL AND ROTATIONAL CONTROL

A drilling rig mobility system moves a drilling rig or similar structure in an oilfield or similar environment and includes independently controllable positioning shoes attaching to the drilling rig and controllable through separate and coordinated position control commands. Each positioning shoe may be individually addressed to reposition the drilling rig. Each positioning shoe includes a hydraulic actuator and wireless control circuitry. The hydraulic actuator provides vertical and horizontal force in response to wireless control signals for wireless position and control data and instructions with a remote wireless communications device. A cylinder stomper vertically elevates the hydraulic actuator and receives and transfers the vertical force. A foot assembly transfers the horizontal force from the hydraulic actuator. A positioning shoe cylinder stomper and positioning shoe traverse cylinder provide infinitely variable position control. Rotational positioning may be manually or automatically achieved.

FRAGMENT-, OVERPRESSURE-, RADIATION-, AND TOXIC-RESISTANT EMERGENCY SAFETY SHELTER

A modular safety shelter provides protection from fragment, overpressure, radiation, and toxic hazards through a combination of physical design of modular segments, of joint seals between modular segments, of door assemblies, and of HVAC control systems. The modular shelter is formed of two or more prefabricated concrete modular segments each including a built-in foundation, roof, and side walls, and a prefabricated concrete vestibule segment providing an airlock-like access to the shelter. The prefabricated modular segments and vestibule segment are transported to a site and assembled to each other on-site to provide a fully enclosed space within the modular shelter. A multi-layer joint seal is formed between adjacent modular segments to prevent ingress of toxic, flammable, or thermal hazards. An integrated HVAC controller monitors toxic or flammable hazards outside and inside of the shelter, and controls HVAC systems to minimize spread of contaminants upon detecting a hazard.

Modular units for use in creating structures, such as accessory dwelling structures, and related methods. In some embodiments, such structures may be constructed by combining an anchor unit with one or more sub-units by facing open sides of the various units towards each other and coupling them together. In some embodiments, one or more of the units may further comprise one or more partially open sides that may be formed using structural members positioned adjacent to an edge of the unit(s). Preferably the units are formed in a similar shape and/or size to standard shipping containers for ease of transport.

The Invention is a series of blocks and block areas with interfaces and dimensions that enable them to be assembled into a wide range of useful 3D objects. The blocks, poles, spheres, and their interfaces can build a wide range of useful constructions in the manner similar to how an alphabet describes a wealth of human experience. With knobs, screws, hooks, snaps, magnetic interfaces and combinations of these interfaces, the pieces of the Invention pull themselves together with the strength needed in a particular circumstance. They can also be easily disassembled to form new constructions as needed. The blocks, and their interfaces, are modular and they can in turn build modular objects and constructions, like modular homes.
