Insulation devices, methods and related construction techniques are provided. An exemplary device may include a body having a plurality of openings defining an openwork, to allow the passage of air therethrough when placed in contact with insulation material. The device may further include a plurality of spacer struts and/or spacing depressions fixedly attached to the body. The struts may be configured to maintain a predetermined distance between a first side of the insulation material and a building surface. The body and struts act together to define and maintain a space between the first side of the insulation material and the building surface, for example, for ventilation. The building surface can be the bottom face of a roof, an insulated attic floor, wall sheathing or a soundproofed demising wall, for example. The spacer device can be capable of being transported and stored together with, or as a separate item from, the insulation material, and can also be stored in nested layers. The device can also be stored in rolled form. The openwork of the device can additionally or alternatively include a sheet of entangled net filaments or other similar material.

A rugged noise muffler system is configured to substantially surround sound-emitting openings in a working unit or structure, to absorb sound emitted from the sound-emitting openings. A barrier component, formed as a housing, covers a sound emitting opening to inhibit sound from emanating from the housing, except at an open end of the housing. Each sound emitting opening in the working unit or structure requires a housing positioned over same. The housing includes a hood portion and an elongate portion that includes the open end of the housing. The inner surfaces of the hood portion and an elongate portion are lined with sound absorbing material. The emitted sound first enters the hood portion, is partially absorbed therein and any unabsorbed sound passes into and is substantially absorbed in the elongate portion as the sound travels towards the open end of the housing.

MODULAR AND REUSABLE TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION WALL

A modular, reusable temporary enclosure system is particularly suited for the renovation of buildings having stacked concrete floors supported by steel and/or concrete columns. The system consists of a set of track components, one fastened to the floor, and one fastened to the ceiling. Columns assembled from rigid panels are supported and aligned between these components. The panel edges are connected to one another by an interfacing spline assembly. To ensure that the components can be brought up to the construction site by elevator, individual panels are shorter than the full distance between the floors.
