Header and Jamb Kit Providing Rough Opening for Hollow Metal Door Frame in Steel Stud Construction
20190093417 · 2019-03-28 ·

A pre-formed header assembly creates a rough wall opening for a metal door/frame, permitting completion of electrical, ducting, drywall, etc. prior to receiving/installing the door frame. The header is secured to first and second king studs at respective locations positioned beyond a desired door frame location. The header includes four different channels, one of which is utilized at two locations. The first channel has a first length to span between the king studs. The second channel has a second length, and the third channel a third length, which correspond to minimum dimensional requirements for completing the wall. The base of the second and third channels are each fixedly secured to the base of the first channel. The base of the fourth and fifth channels are fixedly secured to the first and second ends of the base of the first channel, respectively, substantially perpendicular thereto, for attachment to the king studs.

Accordingly, various frame structures can be implemented and thus reduced manufacturing costs can be achieved.

ADJUSTABLE METAL FRAMING SYSTEM AND CONNECTON
20240240457 · 2024-07-18 ·

The present invention describes an interlocking metal framing system where two concentric support members slide between each other to enable the support member to form a longer length without using extensions to add the additional length to the support members whether installed as vertical support members for a wall; or as horizontal support members for ceiling support members; or as floor-ceiling support members. The concentric support members have notches together to form a longer support member. The connector can be a clip connecting the two concentric support members together whether installed vertically or horizontally; or by having a longitudinal spacing-bracing member pass through the apertures connecting the perimeter notches of adjacent support members. The perimeter notches interlock the spacing-bracing member to the two concentric support members together eliminating vertical and horizontal movement between the concentric support members as well as the adjacent support members. The apertures are setback from both ends or both concentric support members allowing the additional length to be projected above or below the concentric support members.

A stud layout locker and associated method having a longitudinal beam. A tab end at one end of the longitudinal beam defines an upstanding tab and a pair of opposing slots sized to receivingly engage a stud web. A slot end at the opposing end of the longitudinal beam has a flange defining a portion of a slot. The tab and slot are sized so that the tab of a first stud layout locker is insertable into the slot of a second stud layout locker and so that the tab is substantially parallel and adjacent the flange.

A STUD WALL RESTRAINT SYSTEM FOR IN-PLANE BUILDING MOVEMENT ISOLATION
20240279922 · 2024-08-22 ·

A stud wall restraint system for in-plane building movement isolation uses a channel having side flanges and a web therebetween. The web has intermittent elongate longitudinal slots orientated along a longitudinal axis of the channel and the web comprises intermittent integrally formed fold out connectors which comprise elongate slots. The channel can be used for arrangements that allow for non-axial loadbearing walls to accommodate in-plane vertical and horizontal building movements whilst providing for enhanced structural restraint and resistance against out-of-plane transverse actions.
