Air decontamination and self-renewing purification system utilizing a filter
An air purification system includes a conduit extending between an inlet and an outlet, each in fluid communication with an enclosed environment. Ambient air from the enclosed environment enters the conduit via the inlet and treated air exits the conduit and enters the enclosed environment via the outlet. The system further includes a fibrous filter disposed within the conduit and configured to treat the ambient air thereby generating the treated air, and a renewal unit disposed within the conduit and configured to renew the fibrous filter.
PATHOGEN CONTAINMENT DEVICE
The present invention provides a safer way to intubate patients having communicable diseases, such as bacterial and viral infections. It protects health care professionals performing the intubation from bodily fluids of the patients that might otherwise be projected directly onto them by coughing, gagging, vomiting, or sneezing. Additionally, it traps airborne suspensions or aerosols containing pathogens, such as bacterial, myco-bacterial, viral, or fungal infections, originating from the patient and keeps them from entering into the air in close proximity to the healthcare professionals. The contaminated air can then be vented to a location which is away from personnel, such as an outdoor containment area. In one embodiment of this invention the contaminated air is passed through a disinfecting solution which destroys the pathogens before the air is recycled into the environment, such as the room where the intubation is carried out.

CATHETER DEVICE FOR ODOUR-REDUCING DELIVERY AND/OR DISCHARGE OF SUBSTANCES TO/FROM THE HUMAN OR ANIMAL BODY
The invention describes a specific, multilayer tubular film for the manufacture of catheter devices that are usable in the most odor-neutral manner possible. The passage of substances through the film wall may be reduced or avoided by incorporating suitable barrier layers. The delivery of strong-smelling active substances and also the discharge of intensely odorous excretions or secretions may be optimized in a problem-solving manner by proportional layers of EVOH- or PVDC-based materials, for example, in the multilayer film structure. The invention combines these barrier layers with mechanically loadable carrier layers made of polyurethane (PUR), PVC, or also polyamide (PA) or PA-related material layers, for example. The invention describes, among other things, embodiments of catheters having retaining balloon components that are equipped with odor-inhibiting layer portions over the entire intracorporeal and extracorporeal surface of the catheter and that thus provide maximum protection against release of odors. The invention further describes embodiments that are manufacturable in a particularly advantageous manner, with several of the components that make up the catheter being manufactured by simultaneous forming from a single film tube blank.
