Nitrite eluting devices and methods of use thereof
The present disclosure generally relates to implantable devices including a releasable nitrite ion and to methods of preparing and using such compositions and devices. In one embodiment, the device is a stent, for example, a vascular stent. In another embodiment, the nitrite ion is ionically bound to an inorganic ion.
Enhanced formulations for coating medical devices
Provided are formulations and related methods, for coating or impregnating a medical device, as well as a coated or impregnated medical device, for example, a device that is a catheter or cannula, where a different formulation may be used for interior surface of device and for exterior surface of the device.
Plasma-Treated Hydrogel Compositions and Uses Thereof
The present invention relates to a composition including a polymer aqueous solution, a bioceramic material and reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (RONS) and its use for the treatment of bone cancer and/or bone tissue regeneration.
Nitric oxide releasing PLGA microspheres for biomedical applications
A polymeric composition includes poly(lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) microspheres; and at least one of a discrete RSNO adduct or a polymeric RSNO encapsulated within the microspheres, with the at least one of the discrete RSNO adduct or the polymeric RSNO adduct capable of releasing nitric oxide (NO). The polymeric composition exhibits stability under dry conditions at 37° C. and prolonged and controllable NO release rates, when exposed to light capable of photolyzing an RSNO bond, or when exposed to moisture, for a predetermined amount of time from the at least one of the discrete RSNO adduct or the polymeric RSNO adduct.
Nitric oxide-releasing antibacterial polymers and scaffolds fabricated therefrom and methods pertaining thereto
Several embodiments of NO releasing structures are disclosed. In some embodiments, the structures are covalently modified to store and release nitric oxide. Some embodiments pertain to methods of making and use of these structures. The covalently modified polymer structures may be tailored to release nitric oxide in a controlled manner and are useful for treatment of various medical conditions.
Wound dressing or dermal patch
The invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition and in particular a dermal patch or wound dressing comprising an acid-hydrolyzing oligomer and/or polymer and an acid-activated prodrug such that the active principle in the pharmaceutical composition or in the dermal patch or wound dressing is formed from the prodrug under the effect of acid. The invention further relates to a corresponding method for releasing active principles from a pharmaceutical composition.
CATHETER INSERT DEVICES
A catheter insert device includes a powder composition, and a housing. The powder composition includes a solid phase S-nitrosothiol (RSNO). The housing includes a polymeric wall that is i) permeable to nitric oxide, ii) non-porous, and iii) permeable to water vapor, and an inner lumen defined at least in part by the polymeric wall. The powder composition is completely sealed within the inner lumen of the housing.
Method for Treating Tissue
Methods for treating tissue are provided. In one embodiment, an adjunct material, when secured to tissue, can receive at least one physiological element released from the tissue during healing progression of the tissue, and can exhibit first and second stiffnesses in compression that are approximately constant during first and second time periods from contact with the tissue, with the second stiffness decreasing with time as a function of at least one of oxidation, enzyme-catalyzed hydrolysis, and change of pH resulting from interaction with the at least one physiological element. In another embodiment, the adjunct can receive a unit volume of fluid that causes first and second portions of the adjunct to expand according to first and second expansion behaviors that differ from one another to apply different pressures to the tissue.
ELECTROCHEMICAL GASOTRANSMITTER GENERATING COMPOSITIONS AND BIMETALLIC CELLS FOR THE GENERATION OF GASOTRANSMITTERS
Therapeutic dressings, a process for the preparation of a gasotransmitter, and various methods are disclosed. A therapeutic dressing according to an embodiment includes a composition including an organic electrochemical mediator configured to reduce a gasotransmitter salt, and the gasotransmitter salt converting into a gasotransmitter upon reduction; a carrier adapted to contain the composition; and a bimetallic cell delivering current to the composition.
NITRIC OXIDE PRODUCING COLLAGEN/ORC DRESSING
The present disclosure provides wound dressing compositions that stimulate nitric oxide production in a wound upon application. The wound dressing composition includes a first layer comprising collagen and an oxidized cellulose and a second layer comprising a nitrite source. Also disclosed herein are kits comprising the wound dressing compositions of the present technology.
