Embodiments of the present disclosure provide for structures including an alloy of calcium, strontium, and magnesium.
TISSUE ADHESION COMPOSITION WITH BIO-TISSUE ADHESIVENESS AND BONDING FORCE AND PREPARATION METHOD THEREFOR
The present invention relates to a tissue adhesion agent having improved bio-tissue adhesiveness and bonding force by utilizing an adhesion-related gene. More specifically, a cartilage tissue adhesion composition prepared from fetal cartilage tissue-derived stem cells in which VCAN, CTGF, or EXT1 is inserted and expressed in an upregulated manner was found to show a remarkably superb adhesive force, compared to that prepared from fetal cartilage tissue-derived stem cells in which none of the genes are inserted. Accordingly, the cell composition in which the expression of VCAN, CTGF, or EXT1 is upregulated can be prepared into a tissue adhesion composition having improved bio-tissue adhesiveness and bonding force and VCAN, CTGF, or EXT1 can be provided as an additive composition for a tissue adhesion agent.
Liposomes encapsulating adenosine
Provided are liposomes that encapsulate adenosine. The liposomes may be formed from sphingomyelin or a combination of sphingomyelin and 1,2-dimyristoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DMPC) or a combination of sphingomyelin and 1,2-dimyristoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphorylglycerol (DMPG) or a combination of sphingomyelin, DMPG, and DMPC. The liposomes encapsulating adenosine may be used to induce cartilage regeneration, treat osteoarthritis, alleviate joint pain, and/or slow, arrest, and/or reverse progressive structural tissue damage associated with osteoarthritis or treat osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, acute gouty arthritis, and/or synovitis. The liposomes may release adenosine for up to two weeks.
Bacteriophage Cocktail-Containing Hydrogel Compositions and Methods of Production and Use Thereof
An anti-bacterial coating composition for use with a medical implant is disclosed. The anti-bacterial coating composition includes a bacteriophage cocktail that is encapsulated in beads that are embedded within a hydrogel. Also disclosed are kits containing the anti-bacterial coating composition as well as methods of producing and using the coating composition.
HYPERBRANCHED POLYMERS AND POLYPLEXES AND DNA OR RNA DELIVERY SYSTEMS INCLUDING THE SAME
A hyperbranched polymer includes a hyperbranched, hydrophobic molecular core, respective low molecular weight polyethyleneimine chains attached to at least three branches of the hyperbranched, hydrophobic molecular core, and respective polyethylene glycol chains attached to at least two other branches of the hyperbranched, hydrophobic molecular core. Examples of the hyperbranched polymer may be used to form hyperbranched polyplexes, and may be included in DNA or RNA delivery systems.
REVERSIBLE IMMOBILIZATION AND/OR CONTROLLED RELASE OF NUCLEIC ACID CONTAINING NANOPARTICLES BY (BIODEGRADABLE) POLYMER COATINGS
The present invention relates to nanoparticles comprising nucleic acids coated with a (biodegradable) polymer for reversible immobilization and/or controlled release of the nucleic acid comprising nanoparticles. Furthermore, the present invention is directed to medical or diagnostic devices, particularly stents and implants coated by a (biodegradable) polymer with the nucleic acid comprising nanoparticles for reversible immobilization and/or controlled release. Furthermore, the present invention is directed to the use of these nanoparticles coated with a (biodegradable) polymer and to the use of medical devices and implants coated by the (biodegradable) polymer with these nucleic acid comprising nanoparticles in the prophylactic or therapeutic treatment of diseases, particularly in the prevention or treatment of restenosis, calicification, foreign body reaction, or inflammation. Additionally, the present invention is directed to a method of preparing these nucleic acid comprising nanoparticles coated with a (biodegradable) polymer and to a method for coating nucleic acid comprising nanoparticles by a (biodegradable) polymer on medical or diagnostic devices.
Methods for improving mechanical properties of a tissue or for regenerating an injured or diseased tissue
The present invention relates to enhancing mechanical properties of tissue such as collagenous or collagen-containing or elastin-containing tissue (e.g., tendons, ligaments, and cartilage) and treating related musculoskeletal and non-musculoskeletal conditions or injuries.
RNA HYDROGEL
The disclosure relates to synthetic oligonucleotides that are unique in that they are RNA molecules that have the capacity to form a hydrogel. Also disclosed are DNA oligonucleotides that encode the RNA oligos so that the oligos can be prepared using in vitro transcription. The disclosure further pertains to pharmaceutical compositions comprising these hydrogels.
