System for re-roofing asphalt shingled roofs
A method of roofing a bare roof deck includes applying asphalt shingles and metal flashings to a wood deck of a roof. The flashings applied are edge drip for edges and gable ends, metal valleys, and step flashing for wall to roof junctions. Asphalt capping of ridges or hips are applied. Metal panels overtop of existing asphalt roof are applied thereby creating a metal overlay configured such that substantially all of the asphalt shingles are covered with a metal panel for preventing further degradation of asphalt components by shielding from sunlight, UV rays, excessive moisture, snow, wind, ice, and fire. No further flashings are installed thereby the metal panel overlay is configured to create a semi-watertight seal such that the metal panel overlay together with the asphalt roof is adapted to create a watertight seal.
MOUNTING DEVICE FOR CONTROLLING UPLIFT OF A METAL ROOF
A clamp for controlling uplift of panels of a metal roof is provided where the clamp secures two adjacent panels together. In some embodiments, the clamp has a slot configured to receive a roof joint between adjacent panels, and the clamp has at least one arm that secures the roof joint within the clamp and prevents the clamp from being pulled off of the roof joint. In addition, the clamp may have a channel and at least one protrusion that locate the roof joint within the clamp in a predetermined position to ensure that a bar component such as a bolt or a set screw can secure the roof joint within the clamp. Moreover, further features and arrangements of features can better position the clamp over a center of the roof joint.
VERSATILE MANUAL CRIMPER FOR ROOF SEAMING
A manual crimping device for roof seaming purposes that includes interchangeable components to allow for myriad different crimping configurations is disclosed. Such a device (and method of roof seaming utilization therewith) permits a user a selection of many different crimping results, whether in terms of crimp angle, crimp indentations, and/or crimp folds. A two-station crimp application configuration within the subject device further permits the user the ability to deform a subject seam to a proper final result, basically providing an initial crimp operation with a separate second and subsequent crimp to the same seam until reaching final status. The interchangeable components, being at least an anvil, a blade, and a hook, allows for these myriad different results without having to utilize and thus possess such a myriad different number of manual crimpers. A manual crimping method utilizing such a versatile device for different crimping results is encompassed herewith as well.
INTERLOCKING ROOFING PANEL SYSTEM AND METHOD
An interlocking panel system for covering a base surface with interlocking panels to prevent water ingress. A first panel is secured to the base surface. A second panel interlocks with the first panel via a hook portion on the second panel entering a receptacle of the first panel. The hook portion expands after entering a retaining portion of the receptacle, thereby preventing the hook portion of the second panel from being withdrawn from the first panel.
Roof seaming apparatus with multiple tooling stations in a modular format
An apparatus for seaming roof assemblies having a modular provision of tooling stations is disclosed herein. Such an apparatus includes multiple tooling stations that may be added or removed on demand in order to facilitate different degrees of seaming engagements as needed. Such a device utilizes horizontal rollers to provide seaming of overlapping roof panel ends to reduce the potential for separation thereof after building erection has been undertaken, further impeding water egress therethrough and wind updraft damage, at least, as well. The modular device thus provides a manner of selecting specific numbers of horizontal rollers for seaming contact with metal roof panels, thereby allowing for different types of panels and end structures thereof, as well as reduce the propensity for jamming of such multiple rollers during utilization. The method of utilization of such a modular device is encompassed herein as well.
ROOFTOP-MOUNTABLE LOAD SUPPORT STRUCTURE WITH ADAPTER PLUG(S)
Load support structures for mounting a load atop a raised rib metal panel roof make use of relatively small, inexpensive, and easy-to-make adapter plugs as interfaces between the raised ribs and one or more component pieces or members of the load support structure, such as an upper diverter or a lower closure member. The adapter plug has an inner surface and an outer surface, the inner surface having an inner profile substantially matching or conforming to some or all of the profile of a particular style of rib profile. The outer surface of the adapter plug has a standardized shape, some or all of which is made to conform to an upper diverter, lower closure, and/or other component member of the load support structure.
Covering system
A covering system provides a structural insulated panel for covering a roof having standing seams. The insulation is a composite core made of EPS and other polymers such as polyurethane. At least one panel covers a mounting surface, like a roof, and at least one protruding seam on the roof. The panel utilize a deformation, or crimping to form connections with adjacent panels and attachments with the mounting surface. A bracket fastens to the mounting surface by crimping onto the protruding seam. An exterior portion includes a pair of stabilizers that extend outwardly. A pair of stabilizer ends crimp onto a support portion of the mounting bracket for fastening. The crimping mechanism minimizes the need for penetrating the mounting surface with fasteners and reduces space between seams.
Supporting a load on a roof
The invention provides a system for installing a load on a metal panel roof, the system comprising a rail and closure structure adapted to be supported by ribs defined by the roof panels, and a load adapted to be supported on the rail and closure structure. In some embodiments, standing seams on ribs, and side rails on the rail and closure structure, extend parallel to each other, and optionally parallel to opposing sides of a hole in the roof. In some embodiments, substantially all of a downwardly-directed force of the load passes downwardly through the rail and closure structure to the ribs, and from the ribs to underlying structural members of the building.
