Device for the delivery of a prosthetic implant and method of use thereof
11523890 · 2022-12-13 · ·

A surgical device for assisting in the placement of a prosthetic implant. One or more sheets of polymer are in the form of a conical frustum such that a proximal end is sealed and a distal end is open, with an elongated slit extending from the distal end toward the proximal end. A single opening is formed by the distal opening and the elongated slit with a set of inter-lockable fastener elements disposed along opposing sides and configured to seal the elongated slit such that the distal end remains open to allow for egress of the prosthetic implant for placement into a surgical pocket. A lubricious coating is applied to the interior cavity of the frustum in addition to one or more surface active coatings. Movement of the prosthetic implant across the one or more surface active coatings causes the coatings to provide one or more offered benefits.

Methods of treating fungal infections

Methods of treating a fungal infection in a subject in need thereof comprising administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of a composition comprising one or more antifungal peptides selected from the group consisting of BmKn2, dBmKn2, Kn2-7, and dKn2-7 are described. Antifungal pharmaceutical compositions and dosage forms, including field-deployable dosage forms, comprising one or more of these antifungal peptides are also described.

Methods of Using Water-Soluble Inorganic Compounds for Implants
20220387676 · 2022-12-08 ·

A method for controlling generation of biologically desirable voids in a composition placed in proximity to bone or other tissue in a patient by selecting at least one water-soluble inorganic material having a desired particle size and solubility, and mixing the water-soluble inorganic material with at least one poorly-water-soluble or biodegradable matrix material. The matrix material, after it is mixed with the water-soluble inorganic material, is placed into the patient in proximity to tissue so that the water-soluble inorganic material dissolves at a predetermined rate to generate biologically desirable voids in the matrix material into which bone or other tissue can then grow.

CONTROLLED-VISCOSITY POLYMERIC HYDROGEL AND METHOD FOR MAKING IT
20220387669 · 2022-12-08 ·

A controlled-viscosity polymeric hydrogel including an aqueous solvent, a water-soluble synthetic polymeric component and an anti-cross-linking component, constituted of a polyphenol, in particular of hydroxytyrosol.

BIOLOGICAL TISSUE ADHESIVE SHEET, BIOLOGICAL TISSUE REINFORCEMENT MATERIAL KIT, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING BIOLOGICAL TISSUE ADHESIVE SHEET

The present invention provides a biological tissue adhesive sheet having excellent tissue adhesiveness. The biological tissue adhesive sheet according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a nonwoven fabric made of fibers containing a crosslinked cold-water fish gelatin. Thereby, the biological tissue adhesive sheet according to the present invention is superior in tissue adhesiveness and film strength to conventional medical sheets.

OXYGEN-GENERATING WOUNDING HEALING DRESSING
20220387660 · 2022-12-08 ·

The present disclosure provides for oxygen generating and free radical scavenging biomaterials, an article including the oxygen generating and free radical scavenging biomaterial, wound healing dressings or structures (e.g., bandage) that have the characteristic of generating oxygen and having redox modulating capabilities. In particular, the wound healing dressing can have the characteristics of being anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and pro-healing for extended periods of time (e.g., at least 10 days, at least 30 days).

Foam compositions, foam matrices and methods

Disclosed herein are matrices, compositions and methods of making matrices. The matrix comprises a biomolecule and the matrix is a dried, cross-linked foam. The matrix is not lyophilized. The method comprises foaming the composition, crosslinking the composition and drying the composition. Matrices disclosed herein are useful as wound dressings and treating wounds.

WOUND DRESSING MATERIAL AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING THE SAME

A wound dressing material comprises first and second wound-contact scrims, and an antimicrobial layer disposed therebetween. The wound-contact scrims comprise water-sensitive fibers comprising a copolymer comprising divalent hydroxyethylene monomer units and divalent dihydroxybutylene monomer units. The wound dressing material may be contacted with an exposed surface of a wound. A method of making the wound dressing material is also disclosed.

IMPLANT

An implant including an implant body to be inserted into biological tissue, the implant body having a hollow portion that penetrates the implant body, and an antibacterial property-imparting means that imparts an antibacterial property to at least the hollow portion of the implant body.

BIOMIMETIC WOUND DRESSING WITH ARTICULATING MICROPATTERN
20220378622 · 2022-12-01 ·

A surface is covered with microstructures that extend from the surface, and are made of a resilient material that allows the microstructures to bend or articulate. The microstructures are generally columnar and can have fingers on their distal or top end that is opposite the base from which the microstructures extend. In addition to the ordinary roughness presented by the microstructures, the articulation further discourages biofouling and bioadherence. The articulation of the microstructures can be oriented, and the orientations can be mixed or varied among the microstructures so that adjacent ones of the microstructures have different orientations of articulation.
