Embodiments of the invention include silica fiber compositions useful for treatment of animal wounds and tissue, as well as for other applications in industry. The fiber compositions may be formed via electrospinning of a sol gel produced with a silicon alkoxide reagent, such as tetraethyl ortho silicate, alcohol solvent, and an acid catalyst.

MAGNETIC DRESSING AND PREPARATION METHOD AND USE THEREOF

The present disclosure provides a magnetic dressing and a preparation method and use thereof, belonging to the technical field of pharmaceutical preparations. The magnetic dressing includes a magnetic layer, a drug-loading layer, and a protective layer that are stacked in sequence, where the magnetic layer includes polyvinyl alcohol, gluten, and iron particles. In the present disclosure, a swallowed magnetic dressing is controlled by an external magnetic field, and the magnetic dressing is moved to a pathological position by changing a direction of the external magnetic field; after the external magnetic field is removed, the magnetic dressing changes from a ring to a sheet, thereby completing attachment of an entire lesion surface to complete treatment by autonomous drug release.

Crosslinkable polypeptide and hyaluronic acid coatings

The present invention concerns a polyelectrolyte coating comprising at least one polycationic layer consisting of at least one polycation consisting of n repetitive units having the formula (1) and at least one polyanionic layer consisting of hyaluronic acid. The polyelectrolyte coating has a biocidal activity and the invention thus further refers to the use of said polyelectrolyte coating for producing a device, in particular a bacteriostatic medical device, more particularly an implantable device, comprising said polyelectrolyte coating, and a method for preparing said device and a kit.

Cured biodegradable microparticles and scaffolds and methods of making and using the same

A method of forming cured microparticles includes providing a poly(glycerol sebacate) resin in an uncured state. The method also includes forming the composition into a plurality of uncured microparticles and curing the uncured microparticles to form the plurality of cured microparticles. The uncured microparticles are free of a photo-induced crosslinker. A method of forming a scaffold includes providing microparticles including poly(glycerol sebacate) in a three-dimensional arrangement. The method also includes stimulating the microparticles in the three-dimensional arrangement to sinter the microparticles, thereby forming the scaffold having a plurality of pores. A scaffold is formed of a plurality of microparticles including a poly(glycerol sebacate) thermoset resin in a three-dimensional arrangement. The scaffold has a plurality of pores.

Biocompatible hydrogel treatments for retinal detachment
11596710 · 2023-03-07 ·

Provided herein are in vivo gelling ophthalmic pre-formulations forming a biocompatible retinal patch comprising at least one nucleophilic compound or monomer unit, at least one electrophilic compound or monomer unit, and optionally a therapeutic agent and/or viscosity enhancer. In some embodiments, the retinal patch at least partially adheres to the site of a retinal tear. Also provided herein are methods of treating retinal detachment by delivering an in vivo gelling ophthalmic pre-formulation to the site of a retinal tear in human eye, wherein the in vivo gelling ophthalmic pre-formulation forms a retinal patch.

Delivery systems

Methods for manufacturing drug delivery systems are provided. The drug delivery systems may include a substrate coated with at least one polymer and at least one active compound. The substrate may include yarns, yarn precursors, threads, filaments, fibers, and/or other suitable substrates. The methods may include disposing a solution including a monomer and an active compound on the substrate. The methods may also include exposing the solution and the substrate to UV light to initiate polymerization of the solution.
