Limiting ice and ice dam formation and related methods and devices
In some aspects, deicer systems to distribute a deicing fluid along a roof of a building to limit ice dam formation can include: a pre-pressurized water source that provides pressurized water; a deicer solution source containing a deicer solution; a passive mixing system in fluid communication with the pre-pressurized water source and the deicer solution source, the passive mixing system being configured to combine the pressurized water and the deicer solution to form a deicer fluid; and one or more emitters configured to be disposed along the roof, the emitters being in fluid communication with the passive mixing system to receive the deicer fluid and dispense the deicer fluid along the roof. In addition, certain systems described herein can be run with an electric pump.
EFFICIENT CONTROL OF A HEATING ELEMENT
Apparatuses, systems, and methods are disclosed for efficient control of a heating element. A sensor is configured to detect a state of water in proximity to a heating element. A switch device is configured to control a supply of power to the heating element. A hardware controller device is in communication with the sensor and the switch. The hardware controller device is configured to adjust the supply of power to the heating element using the switch device based on the state of water in proximity to the heating element.
HEATING SYSTEM WITH ADHESIVE CLIP
A system is provided for preventing the buildup of ice dams on a roof system of a building. The system includes a heating cable configured to generate heat, and a fastening system configured to hold the heating cable in place. The fastening system further includes at least one adhesive clip which is configured to adhere to smooth flat surfaces present on the building. The adhesive clip includes a cable cradle and a base portion with a bottom surface on which an adhesive layer is arranged.
SOLAR CARPORT AND WATER MANAGEMENT AND ICICLE PREVENT SYSTEM FOR SOLAR CARPORTS AND CANOPIES
The embodiments are apparatuses, systems and methods of water management and icicle prevention for solar carports, and are designed to catch drips between rows of, and water run-off from, the low side of inclined photovoltaic modules arranged to form the roof of the solar carport or canopy.
Snow Guard
A snow guard assembly heated within one or more snow guard tubes. Heating of the snow guard tube prevents excessive accumulation of snow and helps prevent snow build up and spill over above the top of the snow guard. The tubes can be length-wise separable to place and service the heating elements. The heating element can be standard heat tape or infrared LEDs. The snow guard tubes can optionally have a non-uniform cross-sectional thickness to direct the heat more efficiently in a desired orientation. The interior of the snow guard tubes can be selectively coated with infrared absorbing or reflective material to direct the heat in a desired orientation when infrared LEDs are used as a heat source. The snow guard can be attached to many types of roof surfaces including tile roofs, metal roofs with or without standing seams, and shingle roofs.
HEAT CONTROL SYSTEM
A heating wire control system has a normally open relay, a control circuit, and a remote controller. The control circuit has a transmitter/receiver adapted for wireless communication with a remote server and is adapted to obtain operational parameters from the remote controller through the server, and to use the operational parameters to selectively provide an electrical signal close the relay and energize heating wire. Weather forecasts, time, ambient conditions, and manual input are all selectively used by the control circuit to operate the control system.
