A cable railing assembly having a plurality of posts, an expandable cable guide assembly, and a tensioning apparatus, and a method of assembling the cable railing assembly. The expandable cable guide assembly includes a pair of cable braces with a cable extending in a serpentine fashion between the cable braces. The tensioning apparatus includes a tensioner base, a tensioner body, a compression spring positioned between the tensioner base and the tensioner body, a movable carriage slidably mounted adjacent the tensioner body and comprising a cable clamp for gripping the cable, and a threaded adjuster secured to the body and operative for moving the movable carriage along the body.

The invention discloses an illuminated safety rail apparatus contained within a watertight, translucent or transparent tubular-shaped housing. The housing may be manufactured from a plastic or polymer material. The shape of the safety rail may vary and be customized to accommodate various sizes and configurations of railings and ladders, such as a commonly used return-to-deck style handrails for pools and spas; safety rails for indoor and outdoor stairwells and walls of any structure; docks and dock ramps; and for travel trailers and motor homes. The housing also contains watertight maintenance access points. The apparatus contains LED or other energy efficient lights that illuminate the safety rail and the surrounding area and has the additional benefit of creating a pleasant aesthetic effect.

In one example, a bracket includes a swivel rotatably mounted on a hinge and a keyway separable from the hinge. The swivel includes a key, while the keyway includes a recess. The key and the recess are shaped to allow the swivel and the keyway to connect to each other in a plurality of positions.

A railing bracket system includes a cup that has a cup bottom wall and two opposed cup side walls. The cup is adapted to receive an end of a railing member. A cap has a first cap wall disposed between two opposed cap side walls and a tab extending from at least one side wall. The cap is adapted to cover the cup. The cup is configured to receive the cap in both of a first orientation wherein the cap is installed over the cup and a second orientation wherein the cap is installed under the cup bottom wall. The tab secures the cap to the cup in both the first orientation and the second orientation.

A vertically adjustable railing having first and second elongate balusters each with a first and second ends, the balusters having a first connection elements at their first ends and second connection elements along their length. An elongate handrail is pivotally connected at its first end to the first connection element of the first baluster and pivotally connected at its second end to the first connection element of the second baluster. An elongate lower rail having a first end and a second end is pivotally connected at its first end to the second connection element of the first baluster and pivotally connected at its second end to the second connection element of the second baluster. A distance between the first end and the second connection element of the first baluster is greater than the distance between the first end and the second connection element of the second baluster.

An elongated support board is for a walkway. The elongated support board includes a handrail and a knee rail or the like. The elongated support board is provided with a lighting-fixture rail for the attachment of a lighting fixture.

In one embodiment, a handrail bracket for coupling a handrail to a portion of a ramp and/or platform assembly includes a first portion for coupling to a handrail system, and a second portion for supporting the handrail, the second portion being adjustably coupled to the first portion. In another embodiment, a ramp and/or platform assembly includes a handrail system coupled to the decking system at an interface, wherein the handrail system includes a pivoting bracket for adjustable handrail alignment to substantially align a handrail with the grade of the decking system.

Techniques and devices are disclosed for fabrication layout device. The device includes a table with a work surface. The work surface being a continuous surface and configured to support a plurality of railing pieces for fabrication of a railing assembly. The device further includes a beam located above the work surface. The beam is operatively coupled to the table, such that the beam moves relative to the work surface in a first direction. Attached to the beam is an ink dispenser. The ink dispenser is configured to move along the beam in a second direction different from the first direction. The ink dispenser is further configured to dispense ink onto the work surface of the table in the form of a pattern of the railing assembly. Railing pieces are positioned on the pattern so that they can be assembled to one another.

The railing extends between and is secured to posts or other substantially vertical surfaces so as to function as a hand rail. It includes an elongated extruded structural core member which has a left vertical wall and a right vertical wall spaced therefrom. A horizontal wall extends between the vertical walls forming a substantially H-shaped cross-section with an open top and an open bottom. A block is secured to an end of the structural member and is adapted to attach the member to a vertical surface. The block has the ability to be secured to the structural member in a plurality of different orientations to thereby allow the structural member to be attached to the vertical surface in a plurality of different angles relative thereto.
