A method for depositing a coating comprising a polymer and pharmaceutical agent on a substrate, comprising the following steps: discharging at least one pharmaceutical agent in a therapeutically desirable morphology in dry powder form through a first orifice; discharging at least one polymer in dry powder form through a second orifice; depositing the polymer and/or pharmaceutical particles onto said substrate, wherein an electrical potential is maintained between the substrate and the pharmaceutical and/or polymer particles, thereby forming said coating; and sintering said coating under conditions that do not substantially modify the morphology of said pharmaceutical agent.
POLYSACCHARIDE AND PROTEIN-POLYSACCHARIDE CROSS-LINKED HYDROGELS FOR SOFT TISSUE AUGMENTATION
Disclosed herein are cohesive soft tissue fillers, for example, dermal and subdermal fillers, based on hyaluronic acids and optionally including proteins. In one aspect, hyaluronic acid-based compositions described herein include zero-length cross-linked moieties and optionally at least one active agent. The present hyaluronic acid-based compositions have enhanced flow characteristics, hardness, and persistence compared to known hyaluronic acid-based compositions. Methods and processes of preparing such hyaluronic acid-based compositions are also provided.

CARDIAC ASSIST DEVICE WITH INTEGRALLY TEXTURED MEMBRANE
A cardiac pump and an assist system is provided to increase blood ejection from a compromised heart. An implantable cardiac pump acting as an assist device includes an attachment system and locating features that enable a minimally invasive procedure to implant and deploy one or more aortic blood pumps in a patient. The cardiac pumps are replaceable without resort to a surgical procedure. Monitoring of cardiac pump operation allows for replacement in advance of chamber failure. The cardiac pump and assist system do not appreciably sheer blood being accelerated through inflation-deflation cycling so as to limit clot associated side effects of operation of a cardiac assist device.

A wound dressing kit includes: a structural material formed into a wound dressing; an immunomodulatory agent; and a growth factor composition, wherein the structural material contains the immunomodulatory agent and/or the immunomodulatory agent is in a separate composition. A method of treating a wound in a tissue includes: applying an immunomodulatory agent to the wound; applying a wound dressing to the wound; and allowing the wound to heal with the immunomodulatory agent and wound dressing. The application of a growth factor can be before, during and/or after applying the wound dressing to the wound.

A drug-coated balloon catheter for delivering a therapeutic agent to a target site of a body lumen stricture includes an elongated balloon having a main diameter. The balloon catheter includes a coating layer overlying an exterior surface of the balloon. The coating layer includes one or more water-soluble additives and an initial drug load of a therapeutic agent. In some embodiments, the balloon catheter includes a length-control mechanism which stretches and elongates the balloon when it is in a deflated state, giving the balloon a smaller cross-sectional deflated profile for tracking through the body lumen and for removal after treatment.
