System and method for securing power and communications cables and associated hardware within crown molding
10082227 · 2018-09-25 ·

A system for crown molding that enables safely incorporating electrical and communications cabling within crown molding by creating one or more protected paths which inherently prevent overly sharp bends in crown molding corners and by mitigating damage from penetrating punctures through a decorated face designed to fracture when improperly penetrated by a screw or nail, and enables the secure installation of hardware either concealed within the molding or securely and favorably positioned through the decorative face to view or sense a room, and enables additional cable capacity that is concealed within a light reflector to increase lighting efficacy as well as power and data delivery capacity.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SECURING POWER AND COMMUNICATIONS CABLES AND ASSOCIATED HARDWARE WITHIN CROWN MOLDING
20240344639 · 2024-10-17 ·

A crown molding assembly that enables safely incorporating electrical and communications cabling within the crown molding by providing segregated compartments for electrical and copper communications cabling, wherein the decorative face is formed of a composite of fiber reinforcing polymer (FRP) including a fiber-reinforced structure having an increased directionality of said reinforcing fibers causing the decorative face to fracture upon being pierced by a fastener in a manner that renders the damaged section of the decorative face unable to hold the fastener, protecting the electrical cables and any other equipment located behind the decorative face from damage, and enables the secure installation of hardware either concealed within the molding or securely and favorably positioned through the decorative face to view or sense a room, and enables additional cable capacity that is concealed within a light reflector to increase lighting efficacy and power and data delivery capacity.

Slidable snap-in trim system

Snap-in trim systems include a mounting element securable to or integrated with a structural component of a building. Structural components include modular wall components suitable for having decorative or structural trim attached thereto. The mounting element extends longitudinally along a length of the structural component. A longitudinal connection element is secured to the mounting element along the length thereof. The connection element attaches to the mounting element at an attachment interface either anterior-perpendicularly, lateral-parallelly, or anterior-lateral-diagonally. A trim element is connected to or integrated with the connection element. Connected trim elements include an alignment element for ensuring proper positioning of the trim element relative to the connection element. Trim elements include baseboard, crown molding, window casing, door casing and door stops.

Coving installation device

A coving installation device includes a unitary structure having a first magnetic face, a second magnetic face, and a third magnetic face. The second face is joined with the first face by an arced side. The third face is joined with the second face by a linear side. The third face is joined with the first face by an angled side. The second face is perpendicular to the first face and the third face is perpendicular to the second face. The first, second, and third faces protrude from the arced, linear, and angled sides. A clean room installer using the coving installation device can independently install coving without assistance.

System and method for installation of molding

A system for installing pre-painted moldings. The system includes pre-painted moldings each configured to be fastened to a wall by fasteners. The system also includes a caulk material, filler material, concealer material, and touchup paint each color matched to the paint color applied to the moldings. The caulk material is configured to fill a gap defined between each of the moldings and the wall to which the molding is fastened. The filler material is configured to fill a gap defined between any abutting portions of the moldings. The concealer material is configured to conceal any surface disturbances caused by the installation of the fasteners. The touchup paint is configured to adhere to the paint pre-painted on the moldings. The system may also include a marker configured to apply a coating color matched to the paint applied to the moldings, a scraping tool, and/or a buffing tool.

System and method for installation of crown molding on imperfect walls
09903125 · 2018-02-27 ·

A molding system installed at or near the top of a vertical wall having a molding portion and an attachment portion, where the attachment portion is attached securely to the wall above at least the center of mass of the molding portion, and the molding portion has an outwardly visible decorative face which extends down to where the lower edge of the molding portion meets the wall. The attachment portion is enabled to flex as it is firmly attached to an imperfect wall, and the structure of the molding portion is such that the decorative face of the molding system remains preferentially straight and preferentially positioned as the molding system is installed on an irregular wall. A hinge-like flex is enabled along the length of the molding above the center of mass of the molding portion such that the decorative face of the molding can pivot like a pendulum ensuring the lower edge of the molding is placed against the wall. None of the methods of installation of this system violate the decorative face of the molding and a consistent decorative face profile extends around the entire installation.

CROWN MOULDING

Crown moulding installations may include an anchor strip secured along a wall and a moulding strip secured to the anchor strip. Some embodiments of the crown moulding have a notch along the length of the moulding strip that receives a portion of the anchor strip to position the moulding strip. Some embodiments of the crown moulding have a notch along the length of the anchor strip that receives a portion of the moulding strip to position the moulding strip. Installation of the crown moulding may be accomplished by measuring a predetermined distance from the ceiling, affixing the anchor strip at the predetermined distance, and affixing the crown moulding to the anchor strip. The predetermined distance may be calculated according to a desired crown moulding spring angle, the width of the moulding strip, and the thickness of the anchor strip.
