HEAT-ASSISTED RECORDING HEAD HAVING SUBWAVELENGTH MIRROR FORMED OF FIRST AND SECOND MATERIALS
20220220795 · 2022-07-14 ·

A recording head has a near-field transducer that extends a first distance away from a media-facing surface. Two subwavelength focusing mirrors are at an end of a waveguide proximate the media-facing surface and extend a second distance away from the media-facing surface that is less than the first distance. The subwavelength mirrors are on opposite crosstrack sides of the near-field transducer and separated from each other by a crosstrack gap. The subwavelength focusing mirrors each include a first material at the media-facing surface and a plasmonic material that covers an edge of the subwavelength focusing mirror that faces the near-field transducer. The first material is more mechanically robust than the plasmonic material.

Baseboard

A protective baseboard including a baseboard assembly and a stopper assembly, along with a methodology for installing the protective baseboard is disclosed. The baseboard assembly includes a baseboard with a rear side. On the rear side of the baseboard is a stopper member of the stopper assembly extending along a bottom edge of the baseboard. The stopper member extends outwardly and away from the baseboard, giving the baseboard a substantially L shape. The baseboard is mounted on a ground surface and the drywall is mounted atop the stopper member. The stopper member extends entirely across the lower edge of the drywall. The stopper member creates a barrier between the drywall and the ground surface to prevent water on the ground surface from seeping into the drywall which leads to costly and dangerous water damage to the drywall.

A system for installing pre-painted moldings. The system includes pre-painted moldings each configured to be fastened to a wall by fasteners. The system also includes a caulk material, filler material, concealer material, and touchup paint each color matched to the paint color applied to the moldings. The caulk material is configured to fill a gap defined between each of the moldings and the wall to which the molding is fastened. The filler material is configured to fill a gap defined between any abutting portions of the moldings. The concealer material is configured to conceal any surface disturbances caused by the installation of the fasteners. The touchup paint is configured to adhere to the paint pre-painted on the moldings. The system may also include a marker configured to apply a coating color matched to the paint applied to the moldings, a scraping tool, and/or a buffing tool.

A kit for crown moldings includes crown moldings, corner moldings, joint covers, clips, and corner stems. The clips and corner stems may be secured along the walls (e.g., a room) of a structure at its ceiling. The crown moldings and joint covers may be friction fit with the clips, and the corner moldings may be friction fit with the corner stems. The crown moldings, corner moldings, and joint covers may be constructed of a polymer, such as polyurethane. The crown moldings, corner moldings, and joint covers may be secured without any direct nail, screw, or glue attachment and do not require coping cuts to install.

A slot bit for a carpentry system has a first cutting larger head on an end of a shaft of the slot bit to cut a circular portion of a magnifying glass shaped slot via teeth in a face and a circumference thereof and a second annularly adjacent cutting smaller head to cut a handle portion of the magnifying glass shaped slot via circumferential teeth thereof. The disclosed TR'IT Trim Reusable Installation Slot Bit and system simplifies trimming forgoing the need to tape before painting while significantly reducing water intrusion points often associated with the process. The disclosure is uniquely designed to prevent trim replacement during removal/renovations and offers an alternative version ideal for performing external trim tasks.
