MULTIPLE BLOOD BAG SYSTEM
Disclosed is a multiple bag system for fractionating blood, the system including a fluid collecting bag including at least one outlet port; at least first and second sampling bags, each including at least one inlet port and at least one outlet port; and a unit for transferring fluid from the fluid collecting bag to the sampling bags; wherein the unit for transferring fluid includes an acoustic sorter. Also disclosed is a method for fractionating blood into blood products.
Apparatus, Systems And Methods For Storing, Treating And/Or Processing Blood And Blood Components
Apparatus, systems and methods are disclosed relating to certain aspects of blood processing, collecting or storing, including method and system for automated authentication, processing device with scanner, blood container with two dimensional barcode, blood collection containers, blood container label and related tracking method, integrated container system, and processing device with sterile connection device.
Apparatus for extracting a blood component contained in a system of bags
An apparatus for extracting at least one blood component contained in a primary bag of a system of bags, said system of bags comprising at least one bag of solution containing an additive solution for said blood component and at least one collecting satellite bag configured to collect said blood component to which said additive solution has been added, said bags being connected to one another by tubes, said apparatus comprising an extraction device configured to extract the blood component by compressing the primary bag, and a control device configured to transfer said extracted component or of said extracted component and of the additive solution, to the collecting satellite bag by the intermediary of tubes, further comprising: an agitation device, and a drive system, said system being designed to enable the uniform mixing of the extracted blood component and of the additive solution in said collecting satellite bag.
HEMODYNAMIC SWIRLING OF EXTRACORPOREAL BLOOD
Method for maintaining blood substantially free of biochemical coagulation and/or particulate precipitation during extracorporeal treatment of blood. A volume of blood is introduced into a blood container moved in a rotary orbital motion using an orbital vortex motor to generate a sinusoidal wave in the moving blood, thus establishing a laminar flow of the blood in the blood container and over a blood-contacting surface. The blood may be introduced using an intravenous (IV) tube from a vein of a patient, and applying suction pressure to a port of the blood container. An ozonation device may be used to introduce a mixture of oxygen and ozone into the blood container during continued rotary orbital motion. A subsequent positive pressure can be applied to return the blood to the patient. Multiple passes can be performed in succession. Compounds such as anti-coagulant agents may be administered or omitted as required.
Cell preservation or culturing arrangement
A biological cell preservation or culturing arrangement (20) comprises a chamber defining a fluid retaining space (30) for retaining in use a body of fluid (34) and a deformable membrane (36) in communication with the fluid retaining space, and being manipulable by an electroactive polymer actuator arrangement (38) to undergo a defined topology change to induce in the fluid a pattern of fluid flow by which fluid is exchanged between a sub-region (46) immediately proximal the deformable membrane and a sub-region (48) removed from the deformable membrane.
APPARATUS, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS FOR PROCESSING PLATELETS AND CONTAMINATED BLOOD
One aspect of the present disclosure relates to a bag for storing platelets or contaminated blood previously withdrawn from a subject. The bag can comprise a flexible, closed container and at least one removable heat transfer member adhered to an outer surface portion of the container. The container can include an inlet therein that forms part of the container. The inlet can be adapted for fluid-tight connection to a tube member through which the platelets or contaminated blood are caused to flow.
Device For Preserving Blood Products and Cellular Cultures in a Gas Medium Under Pressure
A device that can be used to store blood product and/or cellular culture that may or may not be under pressure. The device includes a chamber that can be hermetically sealed and a flexible secondary bag which can be placed in the chamber. The chamber is designed to receive at least one secondary bag that contains a conventional storage bag containing blood product and/or cellular culture. The storage conditions are created in the chamber and may or may not include 1) creating a pressure higher than atmospheric pressure, 2) creating a refrigerated temperature, and/or 3) providing agitation to the secondary bag. The secondary bag is filled with a gas system that is used to facilitate in the storage of the blood product and/or cellular culture. The secondary bag can be made of a material and/or include a coating or film that is impermeable to the gas system and to the gas inside the chamber. The higher-than-atmospheric pressure inside the chamber can be created by pumping an inexpensive gas, for example, air, into the chamber. The gas used to pressurize the chamber can be different from the gas system in the secondary bag.
