Wire rope termination and tensioning for cable railing
10221522 · 2019-03-05 ·

A cable gripping and tensioning apparatus is provided for attaching a cable to an anchor point such as a wooden post as part of a cable railing system. In one form, the apparatus includes a tubular component and a ferrule. The tubular component includes external threads to engage the wall of a hole in the post, an internal axial bore through which a cable may pass, a first end which may engage a wrench to rotate the tubular component and a second end which may provide a thrust bearing surface. The ferrule is swaged to an end portion of the cable. The ferrule provides a thrust bearing surface for contact with the second end of the tubular component, allowing for the rotation of the tubular component to tension the cable while the cable does not rotate.

A system and method for stretching and securing fencing includes a clamping member having a clamping channel, a clamping bar configured to be received within the clamping channel, and at least one fastener for securing the clamping bar to the clamping channel; a stretcher bar having a plurality of hook members for engaging the fencing, and at least one notched opening configured to receive a tensioning device; wherein the clamping bar and the clamping channel are correspondingly shaped, sized, and configured, such that the fencing is held secure between the clamping bar and the clamping channel when the clamping bar is secured to the clamping channel.

Fencing storage system
10053888 · 2018-08-21 · ·

A cylindrical cartridge used for the storage and protection of all types of barrier fencing. The device is designed to extend the life of barrier fencing, reduce waste and reduce cost. The cartridge has an interior hollow pipe shaft with rollers mounted to the shaft to create a spool. The spool shaft extends through the top of the cartridge and is fitted with a manually operated crank handle. A vertical slotted opening in the side of the cartridge of varying widths dependent on the barrier material being used allows the extraction and retraction of the barrier fencing. The bottom of the cartridge has an opening in the center equal to that of the interior dimension of the hollow shaft. The bottom opening allows for the mounting of the cartridge to a ground spike or stabilizing plate.

Hitch-mounted wire unroller apparatus

A collapsible wire unroller apparatus having a frame including cradles for supporting a spindle having spools of wire. A bottom support mounted to one portion of the frame connects to a rear hitch of the all-terrain vehicle (ATV). Left and right adjustable straps mounted to another portion of the frame connect to a rear cargo rack of the ATV and reduce the weight of the spindles placed on the rear hitch.

Tension board for straining wire netting
12179320 · 2024-12-31 · ·

A tension board (30, 130) for straining net style fencing materials (42) composed of a first plurality of spaced apart substantially horizontal wires and a second plurality of spaced apart substantially vertical wires, is disclosed. The tension board takes the form of an elongate member having a longitudinal axis and a longitudinal extent at least corresponding to the distance between the first and last of the horizontal wires, and a plurality of wire grippers (10) connected to the elongate member at spaced apart locations. Each of the wire grippers (10) is configured to releasably grasp a corresponding one of the horizontal wires. This enables quick set up prior to straining and quick release once strained and tied off.

Handheld Spooling Device
20170002584 · 2017-01-05 ·

A handheld wire spooling device is provided for spooling wire, and for tensioning fence wire while mending the same. The tool comprises a wire spool, a rotatable handle that can rotate the spool, a side grip, and a ratchet mechanism. The spool and handle are rotatable relative to the side grip, while the ratchet mechanism allows relative rotation in one direction. The spool further comprises a wire slot therein, which is used to receive a length of wire therethrough, whereafter the spool is rotated to draw the wire over and around the spool exterior. The user grips the side grip and rotates the rotatable handle to rotate the spool. The ratchet mechanism prevents unwanted reverse rotation, which would unspool the wire. The tool is useful for spooling wire, and particularly to tensioning fence wire while mending two lengths together during a repair.

A FENCING ATTACHMENT FOR A HAND HELD POWER TOOL
20250223833 · 2025-07-10 · ·

A fencing attachment (30) for a power tool (32) is disclosed. The attachment housing (31) has a mouth (40), and an engagement means to permit the attachment to be powered by the power tool. A gear train drives a rotor (44). The rotor has a longitudinally extending radial slot which reaches its axis of rotation. The rotor is mounted facing a mouth (40). There is at least one winding arm (51) mounted exterior of the housing, being rotatable with the rotor, and carrying a sheave (52) rotatably mounted on the winding arm at a location radially spaced from the axis of rotation. The mouth can envelop a first stationary wire (1) and locate same within the rotor substantially co-incident with the axis of rotation. A second wire (2) can be engaged with the sheave, and rotation of the rotor winds the second wire around the first wire.
