Membrane for blood purification
The present disclosure relates to semipermeable membranes which are suitable for blood purification, e.g. by hemodialysis, which have an increased ability to remove larger molecules while at the same time effectively retaining albumin. The membranes are characterized by a molecular retention onset (MWRO) of between 9.0 kD and 14.5 kD and a molecular weight cut-off (MWCO) of between 55 kD and 130 kD as determined by dextran sieving curves and can be prepared by industrially feasible processes excluding a treatment with salt before drying. The invention therefore also relates to a process for the production of the membranes and to their use in medical applications.
MEMBRANE WITH IMMOBILIZED ANTICOAGULANT AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING SAME
The present disclosure relates to an anticoagulant-coated microporous hollow fiber membrane showing reduced thrombogenicity. The disclosure further relates to a method for producing the membrane and a filtration and/or diffusion device comprising the membrane.
APPARATUS FOR EXTRACORPOREAL BLOOD TREATMENT
An extracorporeal blood treatment apparatus is provided comprising a filtration unit connected to a blood circuit and to a dialysate circuit, a preparation device for preparing and regulating the composition of the dialysis fluid; a control unit is configured for setting a sodium concentration value for the dialysis fluid in the dialysis supply line at a set point based on the physician prescription; starting from the initial patient plasma conductivity, estimated at the beginning of the treatment, and based on the target plasma conductivity/sodium concentration which is equivalent to the dialysate conductivity/sodium concentration prescribed, the control unit determines the minimum constant gradient between dialysis fluid and plasma conductivity/concentration to be maintained during treatment to achieve the conductivity/concentration target in the patient plasma at the end of the session.
SIMULTANEOUS ECMO AND CRRT
A controller for controlling an apparatus comprising a blood pump, oxygenator, and blood filtering system connected together by blood flow tubing and to a patient to circulate blood from the patient through the apparatus and back to the patient, to oxygenate and filter the blood, the controller comprising at least one communication interface operable to receive signals generated responsive to monitored parameters characterizing blood flow and/or quality of blood from the patient circulating through the apparatus and configured to: determine values for the monitored parameters based on the monitoring signals; determine whether or not a value determined for a given monitored parameter for blood circulating through the apparatus is within a normative range for the parameter; and generate an alarm to alert an operator of the system if the value is not within the normative range.
APPARATUS FOR AN EXTRACORPOREAL BLOOD TREATMENT
The present invention relates to an apparatus for an extracorporeal blood treatment having an extracorporeal blood circuit in which a dialyzer is arranged and having a dialyzate circuit, wherein the blood circuit is in fluid communication with a first chamber and the dialyzate circuit is in fluid communication with a second chamber of the dialyzer, and wherein the two chambers are separated from one another by a semipermeable membrane, with a dialyzate pump for a conveying of the dialysis solution being present in the dialyzate circuit, wherein the apparatus has a control unit that is configured to operate the apparatus in a first phase and in a second phase following the first phase, wherein the dialyzate pump is operated with a smaller flow rate in the first phase than in the second phase and/or wherein the dialyzate pump conveys a dialysis solution in the first phase that is of a higher concentration with respect to at least one component than in the second phase.
