Lock that electronically detects tampering

Pin tumbler locks are provided that include features for detecting tampering. Tampering may be detected in a number of different ways. As an example, abnormal movement of one or more of the driver pins in a pin tumbler lock can be an indication of tampering. In addition, one or more sensors can be included at the end of a keyway that detect picking or bumping beyond the length of normal key insertion. An electrical sensor can be used for detection.

Systems and methods for operating a security tag. The methods comprise: causing a plunger of the security tag to engage a latch of the security tag; preventing, by an anti-defeat structure of the security tag, a disengagement between the plunger and the latch when an impact force is applied to the security tag; and allowing, by the anti-defeat structure, the plunger to disengage the latch when a magnetic field is applied to the security tag.

A lock system includes a first housing, a plug, and a deadlock system. The first housing including a first side defining an opening. The plug is disposed within the first housing and is configured to move within the opening between an open position and a plugged position. The deadlock system is disposed within the first side of the first housing and coupled to the plug. The deadlock system is configured to move between a first position and a second position. The deadlock system (i) inhibits movement of the plug in the first position and (ii) allows movement of the plug in the second position.

A retrofittable, auto-resetting detention locking apparatus includes a main body defining various features including a mounting hole, pin guide, slide guide, slide track, slide channel, grub screw guide groove, and concave divot. The apparatus further includes a slide that includes first and second plates joined by a rail that slidably interacts with the slide guide. A resistance spring mounted between the main body and slide biases the components together. A security pin fixed to the second plate mechanically engages with door locking mechanisms. The apparatus may be retrofitted to existing access points to prevent tampering with doorway locking mechanisms while providing automatic reset functionality during breach attempts.

Lock apparatuses with secondary locking mechanisms

A lock apparatus generally includes a connecting portion, a housing, a primary lock, and a secondary lock. The connecting portion is engageable to the housing with a bolt assembly, and the primary lock locks the bolt assembly in the engaged position. The secondary lock arrests the bolt assembly in the engaged and locked condition in response to an attack that displaces the primary lock from a nominal configuration.
