Localized Therapy Delivery and Local Organ Protection
A system for perfusing a localized site within a body includes a catheter assembly having a venous access line that is adapted to deliver perfusate to the localized site, a venous or arterial drainage line adapted to drain perfusate from the localized site, and an occlusion device adapted to prevent some or substantially all physiological blood flow between the localized site and the systemic circulation of the body during and in the course of perfusing and draining perfusate to and from the localized site. The system may include a blood circuit associated with the catheter assembly to facilitate blood conditioning for use as the perfusate, in the course of a controlled perfusion and/or drainage of untreated, treated, or inactivated treated blood to and from the localized site. A delivery machine may control the blood circuit and catheter assembly in order to both deliver perfusate to, and drain some or all perfusate from, the localized site in a manner that provides perfusate to substantially only the localized site.
Devices and methods for increasing blood perfusion to a distal extremity
Devices and methods divert blood flow from a first vessel to a second vessel and maintain blood flow in the first vessel. The device includes a first segment and a second segment. The first segment is configured to anchor in the first vessel. The first segment includes a window to allow blood to flow into the first segment, through the window, and distal in the first vessel. The second segment is configured to anchor in the second vessel. The second segment is configured to allow blood to flow into the first segment, through the second segment, and into the second vessel.
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR CORONARY SINUS PRESSURE RELIEF
A method and devices for relieving pressure in the left atrium of a patient's heart is disclosed. The method includes using an ablative catheter in a minimally invasive procedure to prepare an opening from the coronary sinus into a left atrium of the patient's heart. Once the opening is prepared, the opening may be enlarged by a technique such as expanding a balloon within the opening. A stent is then placed within the coronary sinus of the patient, with a transverse portion expanding within the opening, allowing blood to flow from the left atrium to the coronary sinus and then to the right atrium. Pressure within the left atrium is thus relieved.
FLOW AND DELIVERY APPARATUS
A cannula and a method of using a cannula are disclosed. The cannula include a first portion having an interior lumen, a narrow portion coupled to the first portion and having an interior lumen, an expandable portion having an interior lumen and being coupled to the narrow portion, and a tip being disposed at a distal end of the expandable portion. The expandable portion is being capable of having an expanded configuration and a collapsed configuration. The interior lumens of the first portion, the narrow portion, and the expandable portion are communicatively coupled to allow passage of at least one of a fluid, a powder, a gas, an object, and a device.
Pancreas perfusion apparatus, method for controlling same, and method for pancreas perfusion
Provided are a pancreas perfusion apparatus capable of administering a drug only to the pancreas and strictly suppressing a leakage of the drug outside the pancreas and a method for controlling the same. The apparatus includes: a first vein occlusion section occluding a vein through which a venous blood from the pancreas flows; a second vein occlusion section occluding a vein into which a venous blood from collateral pathways outside the pancreas flows; an artery occlusion section occluding sites where an artery that nourishes the pancreas is connected to arteries that nourish other tissues; a drug administration section recovering a liquid upstream of the first vein occlusion section and supplying the recovered liquid to the artery; a systemic circulation section recovering a liquid upstream of the second vein occlusion section and feeding the recovered liquid into a systemic circulation; and a control device controlling the systemic circulation pump.
PERFUSION SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MONITORING TISSUE OXYGENATION AND REDUCING LIMB ISCHEMIA
Perfusion systems and methods are provided for increasing peripheral blood flow to reduce limb ischemia, in which an extracorporeal pump having a controller, and catheter/tubing set, employed alone or in conjunction with an interventional or circulatory assist device, withdraws blood from a patient's vasculature and reintroduces that blood at another location within the patient's vasculature at a controlled local pressure or flow rate, without interfering with operation of the interventional or circulatory assist device or surgical intervention.
FENESTRATED SHEATH FOR EMBOLIC PROTECTION DURING TRANSCAROTID CAROTID ARTERY REVASCULARIZATION
Methods, devices, and systems establish and facilitate retrograde or reverse flow blood circulation in the region of the carotid artery bifurcation in order to limit or prevent the release of emboli into the cerebral vasculature such as into the internal carotid artery. The methods are particularly useful for interventional procedures, such as stenting and angioplasty, atherectomy performed through a transcarotid approach or transfemoral into the common carotid artery, either using an open surgical technique or using a percutaneous technique, such as a modified Seldinger technique or a micropuncture technique.
Surgical heating and cooling system and devices and methods for the use thereof
A modular cooling-heating system for use in the controlled delivery of temperature-controlled fluids to a heat exchanger associated with the blood of a patient undergoing a medical procedure is described, wherein the cooling-heating system uses adaptive temperature control protocols.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR ESTABLISHING RETROGRADE CAROTID ARTERIAL BLOOD FLOW
Interventional procedures on the carotid arteries are performed through a transcervical access while retrograde blood flow is established from the internal carotid artery to a venous or external location. A system for use in accessing and treating a carotid artery includes an arterial access device, a shunt fluidly connected to the arterial access device, and a flow control assembly coupled to the shunt and adapted to regulate blood flow through the shunt between at least a first blood flow state and at least a second blood flow state. The flow control assembly includes one or more components that interact with the blood flow through the shunt.
