Filtration Devices and Methods Related Thereto

In vivo and ex vivo positionable filtration devices are provided that are functionalized to bind one or more therapeutic agents in blood flowing in a blood vessel.

Apparatus for removing chemotherapy compounds from blood

A filter apparatus for removing small molecule chemotherapy agents from blood is provided. The filter apparatus comprises a housing with an extraction media comprised of polymer coated carbon cores. Also provided are methods of treating a subject with cancer of an organ or region comprising administering a chemotherapeutic agent to the organ or region, collecting blood laded with chemotherapeutic agent from the isolated organ, filtering the blood laden with chemotherapeutic agent to reduce the chemotherapeutic agent in the blood and returning the blood to the subject.

Devices and Methods for Vascular Hyperperfusion of Extravascular Space

A method of delivering a therapeutic substance for treatment to a region of the body through vascular isolation and manipulation of fluid flux into and from the region of the body including the steps of: restricting vascular inflow to the region of the body; washing out oncotically active plasma proteins from the region of the body by increasing the outward oncotic pressure gradient from the region of the body; inducing ischemia in the region of the body; controlling the pressure and fluid flow of the main blood vessels to and from the region of the body; providing the therapeutic substance to the region of the body when the fluid flow to the region of the body is controlled.

Method of Selecting Chemotherapeutic Agents for an Isolated Organ or Regional Therapy
20240102993 · 2024-03-28 · ·

A method for optimal selection of cytotoxic agents for organ or region specific therapy that includes extracorporeal filtration of the cytotoxic agent from blood drained from the organ or region being treated and return of the filtered blood to a mammal is disclosed.

SYSTEM AND METHODS TO ENHANCE CHEMOTHERAPY DELIVERY AND REDUCE TOXICITY
20240100234 · 2024-03-28 ·

Despite therapeutic advances in the field of oncology, treatment toxicity, drug resistance, and inadequate tumor site delivery restrict the benefit of cancer chemotherapy regimens. Disclosed are extracorporeal devices comprising adsorbent components that are suitable for treating a subject prior to and following administration of a dose of a chemotherapy drug, wherein the devices are configured to remove circulating factors comprising a chemotherapy drug from blood or plasma. Also disclosed herein are methods of reducing the bloodstream presence of circulating factors that mediate drug resistance, drug toxicity, and cancer metastasis, wherein circulating factors include without limitation, tumor-derived and/or chemotherapy-induced extracellular vesicles or exosomes.

Filter and Frame Apparatus and Method of Use

Provided is a filter apparatus, comprising two or more filter cartridges having a first end with an inlet and screen and a second end with an outlet and screen, and walls to contain a filter media held in a housing for holding the two or more filter cartridges in about the same orientation, and an attachment clamp connected to the housing. Also provided is a housing for holding two or more filter cartridges in about the same orientation and a method of using the filter apparatus and housing.

EXTRACORPOREAL DRUG REMOVAL FOR INTRAVASCULAR TRIGGERED DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEMS
20190336671 · 2019-11-07 ·

A system for reducing toxicity from intravascular triggered drug delivery includes a chamber comprising an inflow port, an outflow port, and a filter positioned upstream of the outflow port. A trigger module is configured to trigger the release of a drug from an intravascular triggered drug delivery system present in blood in the chamber. A method for reducing toxicity from intravascular triggered drug delivery includes the steps of removing blood comprising an intravascular triggered drug delivery system from a patient's vascular system and delivering the blood to a chamber, applying a trigger to the blood to release a drug from the intravascular triggered drug delivery system, filtering the drug from the blood, and returning the filtered blood to the patient.

Localized Therapy Delivery and Local Organ Protection
20190275231 · 2019-09-12 · ·

A system for perfusing a localized site within a body includes a catheter assembly having a venous access line that is adapted to deliver perfusate to the localized site, a venous or arterial drainage line adapted to drain perfusate from the localized site, and an occlusion device adapted to prevent some or substantially all physiological blood flow between the localized site and the systemic circulation of the body during and in the course of perfusing and draining perfusate to and from the localized site. The system may include a blood circuit associated with the catheter assembly to facilitate blood conditioning for use as the perfusate, in the course of a controlled perfusion and/or drainage of untreated, treated, or inactivated treated blood to and from the localized site. A delivery machine may control the blood circuit and catheter assembly in order to both deliver perfusate to, and drain some or all perfusate from, the localized site in a manner that provides perfusate to substantially only the localized site.
