System and method for simple modular and flexible “blind vault lock” design to secure shipment of high-value cargo
10415268 · 2019-09-17 ·

Cargo locks are general massive, virtually armor plate grade materials, cables, tags, etc. hung on the outside of any configuration of cargo containers, enclosed cargo trucks, vans, semi-trailers, boxcars, etc. A few internal cargo area lock systems have been offered but are cost prohibitive, massive and not practical for other than a stationary installation. This makes them impractical for cargo containers, boxcars, and most semi-trailers because they are rarely re-used by the same party who invested in an elaborate stationary lock system. In a further development of U.S. Pat. No. 9,683,394, virtually anyone can install this flexible Lock Mechanism and Electronic Control (LM&EC) and achieve a secured cargo area by making all locks inaccessible from the outside. Similarly, the LM&EC system can be readily removed for reuse elsewhere or its access and control components modified to adapt to the reuse application or improve security for the present application.

A lock operating device (100) configured to be retrofitted on an electromechanical lock (200) having a key-receiving portion (210) is provided. The lock operating device (100) comprises a maneuver knob (110) and a key blade (120) being operably connected to the maneuver knob (110) and being insertable in said key-receiving portion (210) of the electromechanical lock (200), and circuitry (130) which includes wireless communication means (132) arranged to wirelessly receive authentication information, and which circuitry (130) is arranged to communicate the received authentication information to the electromechanical lock (200) via the inserted key blade (120). The lock operating device (100) thereby allows conversion of the electromechanical lock (200) from a first operating mode, in which the electromechanical lock (200) can be operated by a programmable physical key receivable in said key-receiving portion (210), to a second operating mode in which the electromechanical lock (200) is arranged to receive said authentication information wirelessly and be operated by the maneuver knob (110).

ELECTRONIC LOCK AND RELATIVE OPERATION METHOD

A programmable electronic lock (1) comprising at least one electronic key (10) engageable in an electronic lock (1) and configured to allow the opening and/or closing of a shutter (100) by means of too a security code; a containment body (20) which can be mounted on the shutter (100); a block (30), which includes reversible locking/unlocking means (32) able to be electrically actuated and configured to determine a clamping condition or a disengagement condition. The electronic lock (1) comprises reversible locking/unlocking means (32) having a shaped element (32a) rotatable so as to determine, in a first position, a mechanical interference between the block (30) and the containment body (20), so as to prevent a relative movement therebetween, and, in a second position, a condition of no mechanical interference between the block (30) and the containment body (20), so as to allow a relative movement between said block (30) and the containment body (20).

The present invention relates to an electromechanical lock assembly (1) comprising a lock body (15), a lock core (17), a lock bolt operating member (19), and an electronic access control device. The electromechanical lock assembly further comprises an annular element (27) which is rotatably and axially displaceably mounted on said lock core (17), a coupling device (25) arranged to communicate with said electronic access control device and, upon the insertion of an appropriate key (65) in a key receptacle (37) of the lock core (17), rotationally lock the annular element (27) to the lock core (17), thereby enabling rotation of the lock core (17) in a first direction and thereby enabling unlocking of a lock (3) with said appropriate key (65), and a blocking arrangement (63) arranged to prevent unauthorized unlocking of said lock (3).

ELECTRONIC LOCKING DEVICE

An electronic locking device including a cylinder and a plug located in the cylinder. Within the plug is a solenoid with a pair of shuttles which move in opposite directions. A control processor controls the solenoids activating the shuttles when connected to the correct key. Blocking elements for each shuttle are inserted through the cylinder and into annular channels in the plug. The blocking elements receive and allow linear movement of the shuttles but prevent their rotation within the annular channels. In a locked condition the shuttles are contained only partially within the annular channels thereby preventing rotation of the plug within the cylinder but in an unlocked condition the shuttles are contained within the annular channels thereby allowing rotation of the plug. The plug also includes a weakness defining a point at which it will break upon application of excessive force.
