VEHICLE TAILGATE LATCH AND TAILGATE SYSTEM
A vehicle tailgate latch is provided. The latch having: a first portion; a second portion; a linkage for rotatably securing the first portion to the second portion, wherein the second portion is rotatably secured to the first portion for movement about a vertical axis with respect to the first portion; and a latching mechanism for releasing the second portion from the first portion.
Articulating closure mechanism for non-aligned closure panels
A liftgate/decklid assembly for a motor vehicle includes a liftgate panel hingedly connected to the vehicle to define a liftgate swing arc. A decklid panel is hingedly connected to the liftgate panel to define a decklid swing arc. The decklid and liftgate panels are not aligned, causing the decklid swing arc to be different from the liftgate swing arc. The assembly further includes a liftgate/decklid assembly closure mechanism including an articulating latch member configured for translating as needed between an orientation normal to the liftgate swing arc and an orientation normal to the decklid swing arc prior to engaging a fixed angle striker.

Devices and methods for securing an area in a vehicle, methods of making devices for securing an area in a vehicle, and vehicles with a device for securing an area
Security devices include a side panel movably coupled to an attachment mechanism and to a top panel. An extension side panel may be moveably coupled to the side panel and configured to adjust laterally inward and outward relative to the side panel. The side panel is positioned at least substantially transverse to the top panel with the extension side panel extending laterally outward from the side panel when in a secured position, and at least substantially parallel to the top panel with the at least one extension side panel positioned laterally inward and adjacent to the side panel when in a storage position. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also included.
