The locking mechanism includes a locking plug configured to move axially along an axis of the inner member and the outer member to a locking position and an unlocking position, a locking dog configured to move radially between a locking position and an unlocking position as a result of a camming action with the locking plug as the locking plug moves axially, and a lock transfer bar operatively connected to the locking plug and configured to move the locking plug to the locking position and the unlocking position when the lock transfer bar is moved.

In order to make available a variable cargo space size, in which an open position of the tailgate can be secured, a support arm is pivotably articulated with one end between a rest position, in which the support arm is immovably secured, and a functional position, in which the support arm pivots in the direction of the locking mechanism, and is capable of being fixed with another end to the locking mechanism by an actuation of the locking mechanism.

A motor vehicle has a tailgate arranged pivotably on a body. Instead of using bricks, sticks, stumps or tying the gate back, each of these are commonly used currently, the gate of the fence can be opened to any size opening and with the placement of the pipe gate, the gate remains open without creating a safety hazard for those in the general area. The pipe gate has a first portion that is configured to receive a rod and then securely coupling the rod at a desired length by inserting and securely coupling a bolt thru a hole in the first portion. The first portion has a hook end to hook onto a rail of a gate and may have a coupling device such as a clamp to secure the pipe gate to the gate. The end of the rod is preferably pointed and is securely coupled to the ground.
