A coil spring wrapped around the hinge cup provides the self-closing functionality and biases the hinge to a closed position. A damper is contained within the hinge cup in the path of the swinging hinge arm and guided by a damper cover fixedly attached to the hinge cup. The hinge body is comprised of three separate plates adjustably connected to each other with cam screws. The position of the hinge body with respect to the hinge arm is adjustable in three directions without the need for removal or loosening of mounting hardware used to attach the hinge body to a furniture piece.

A double axial hinge for a console creates myriad combinations of folding, opening, closing, and extending of doors, panels, and windows of a console. The hinge provides a fixed central panel having a pair of edges. A first pivoting axis and a second pivoting axis in a parallel, spaced-apart relationship enable pivoting about the central panel up to 360 degrees from two directions. The ends of the hinge utilize a first L-shaped bracket and second L-shaped bracket that pivot independently of each other and have a broad L-shape that can be mounted on various mounting surfaces. The L-shaped brackets have a mounting panel that mounts to the console and a hinging panel that pivots about the respective pivoting axes. In an alternative embodiment of the hinge, at least one tab extends from the second pivoting axis restricts pivoting in a first direction about a central panel beyond 90 degrees.

REMOVABLE COMPACT HINGE AND METHOD OF USE

Disclosed is a removable compact hinge for pivotal connection between a furniture piece and a door. The apparatus incorporates a clamping attachment mechanism in order to avoid permanent mounting holes and to provide quick installation and adjustable installation location. The apparatus comprises a hinge cup pivotally connected to an attachment mechanism ion with a hinge arm. The attachment mechanism comprises a base slidably engaged with a sliding body, the sliding body including an adjustable pressure plate. A lever works with a set of links to slide the sliding body with respect to the base towards the furniture piece and mechanically and releasably clamp the attachment mechanism to the furniture piece without the use of typical wood screws thereby preserving the integrity of the furniture piece. The apparatus further includes adjustability in the vertical, horizontal, and lateral directions.
