A vehicle door device includes a first link mechanism formed of first and second link arms having a first rotary coupling point with respect to a vehicle body and a second rotary coupling point with respect to a door of a vehicle, and a second link mechanism formed of the first and second link arms provided independently of the first and second link arms forming the first link mechanism. First and second doors respectively supported by the first and second link mechanisms open and close independently in different directions based on operations of the first and second link mechanisms. At least one of the first and second link arms forming the first link mechanism and the first and second link arms forming the second link mechanism is provided with a coupling length variable mechanism that allows a coupling length between the first and second rotary coupling points to vary.

An autonomous can include one or more configurable passenger seats to accommodate a plurality of different seating configurations. For instance, the one or more passenger seats can include a passenger seat defining a seating orientation. The passenger seat can be configurable in a first configuration in which the seating orientation is directed towards a forward end of the autonomous vehicle and a second configuration in which the seating orientation is directed towards a rear end of the autonomous vehicle. The passenger seat can include a seatback rotatable about a pivot point on a base of the passenger seat to switch between the first configuration and the second configuration. Alternatively, or additionally, the autonomous vehicle can include a door assembly pivotably fixed to a vehicle body of the autonomous vehicle such that a swept path of the door assembly when moving between an open position and a closed position is reduced.

A vehicle opening and closing body control device includes a drive control unit that opens and closes an opening and closing body of a vehicle using a motor as a drive source, wherein the opening and closing body performs the opening and closing operation based on an operation of a link mechanism formed by first and second link arms having a first rotation connection point with respect to a vehicle body and a second rotation connection point with respect to the opening and closing body, wherein an opening and closing body engagement portion is provided at a closed-side end of the opening and closing body, and an engagement failure detector that detects a failure in engagement of the opening and closing body engagement portion with the vehicle body engagement portion based on a change in a motor current value in the specific operation section at a time of full-closing control of the opening and closing body.
